Literally just called craft glue dots, I use them for paper crafting and you can buy removable ones or stronger more permanent ones. They're about 1cm and come on a roll so I just applied a few metres at a time and carried the roll of braid around on my shoulder to try and stop the weight pulling the already applied braid off as I went. I used the permanent ones for this but I've used the gentler ones for feather braid trim around lamp shades before.

What colour are your tiles? Hard to tell from the picture. I had the same dilemma as my fittings are brushed brass and I have black accessories (screen, rad & mirror). My tiles are a light concrete /stone grey and I picked a trim that was a light grey and it disappears into the tiles. . If you have a tile shop locally that deals with trade then you can go in and take your hardware with you and see the trims? Or even buy one to take home and try as you can return them. They have a range of colours - brass is usually special order and so far all the brushed brass items Iver bought from different sellers have all matched so 🤞 I would only use a stand out trim on places you want to highlight. So brass trim on your recess might look lovely.

Emulsion is used on walls and ceilings, either matt or silk finish. Eggshell, gloss and Satinwood is used on wood such as skirting boards and doors - it is tougher and less likely to scuff and chip, although sometimes it will. Don’t use eggshell on walls, it will be difficult to spread and will be pricey. F&B use their own terms for wall paint finish - modern (washable) and estate (chalky). If you visit their website it will explain the various finishes and where they go.
