Has anyone got an Eve mattress? Any good?

I keep seeing the adverts for Eve mattress - my husband suffers from back pain and I wondered whether a memory foam mattress would be better than our current firm sprung mattress...?

If you have somewhere to store and keep your current mattress - why not try the 100 night trial ?!
( I've been considering it too ! But I have an odd oversized/ extra long bed !! )

I've had an Eve mattress for a couple of years now and it's done wonders for my back compared to my old, awful sprung mattress. There's a few points worth mentioning though: it's quite firm, but unlike a regular memory foam this does not require substantial body heat to shape to the contour of your body. In fact, the final layer of latex actually keeps it from becoming unbearably warm in summer. You can't place it on slats, it smells incredibly odd for the first couple of weeks (if you have a more sensitive nose that may be more annoying), and all in all I would say it's more suitable if you sleep on your back rather than your side as I do, but for how cheap it is, the quality of the build and my sleep has improved dramatically.

Lois - I chose a 600W after reading reviews on Amazon etc. The feeling I got was that there wasn't much to gain from the higher rating but people seemed to find it noisier. Presumably there is a reason why they added the 900W version (apart from having a 'premium' product?). I have not felt that the 600W struggles with anything for me, but would be interested to hear other people's view.

Has anyone used Vinyl square tiles for a hall?

I'm thinking of replacing our hall, orange, battered 1960's blocked parquet with coir mat infill with (thick) vinyl square tiles in a modern pattern. Has anyone got these in a hall? I'm concerned that dirt will gather round the edges of each tile. Has anyone got experience of this? I can't afford real encaustic Victorian tiles and the block parquet, even restored, wouldn't/doesn't look good as it is so old fashioned. If anyone has photos of the tiles in use, that would be great. Thanks for any help.

You could ask a timber merchants to cut sheet material to the size of the door - perhaps birch ply which could be stained, varnished or painted. Alternatively, a company with the ability to cut and edge band a finished panel (e.g. Egger) - Cutlist are one company. This option gives you many options. In either of the above, you will need to use a forstner bit to create a hole for the hinges without going through the face of the door the other side.
