Garden fence panels

Hi everyone, we have concrete bases and uprights containing wooden fence panels along 2 sides of our garden. At the moment the concrete is its natural grey/white colour and the fences are brown.
We are looking to re-coat the fences before winter and I am thinking of painting them a better colour but not sure what. Also has anybody painted the concrete posts??
Any ideas very welcome.

I love dark grey painted fences at the moment, it makes the fence fade back and plants really stand out & pop. It depends on your garden style I suppose, as it's quite a contemporary style. Stone/ light greys are also lovely.

Wow happy708 that is exactly the sort of colour I had in mind,
it looks lovely. Don't suppose you can remember what colour you used??

Lap Fence Panels are the cheap ones , they look like this:- Close board or feather edged panel ( look the same ) and are a step up from the lap panels, they are generally better made and look like this:- Then you have the much more expensive Tongue and Groove Fences. They're a newer addition to fencing and not so widely available. I agree they are nice looking and you can justify the expense in a smaller expanse, but they're not cheap, about double , and maybe a bit more than that of a close board panel. In my opinion the strongest fencing is put up by hand using posts, rails and boards with no panels.

I would paint the posts the same colour as the panels. Keeping everything the same colour keeps the look contemporary without drawing too much attention. The fence should be the backdrop to your garden, not the main feature.

Sounds good. Be aware that watering the plants every day can become a chore. I was thinking a picket fence can look great, especially if it’s painted grey to keep it modern and not twee. They’re also quite cheap at about £25 per 6’ panel (3’ high). How about making one pallet up, painting it and then planting it up and if you like it then give it a go with creating a fence. Afternoon everybody. So here is the latest image of the garden. Slowly getting there. I have noticed a weird thing in that when rain water hits the patio, it collects in the areas marked with arrows. The areas collect water, dirt and leaves and looks unattractive on the eye. It's also important to note that the texture of the Indian Sandstone paving tiles has ridges or patterned wells in some of the tiles if that makes sense. The texture isn't flat smooth for every tile. Some tiles have a natural gap, which I believe collects the water and prevents it from running down and off. Is there anything I can do about this? As you can see from the image, the garden is bone dry on the whole but pretty horrible in the said/arrowed areas. Thanks for your support.

Valspar at B&Q do an outside wood / metal paint range - therefore, you can have any colour mixed. If you find a shade on any object that you like, you can get it scanned and the paint made up. - You can also buy the masonry paint in the same colour and do the concrete then. Just remember to get it saved on their system under your name as a custom colour, then if you need more or a touch up in the future you be able to buy the same colour.
