Want to redecorate my through launch living room

Hi!
I want to redecorate my living room its so confusing i don't know what to do this time i want modern style living room instead of carpeting i am going to change with laminate flooring i want nice wall colour or one wall wallpaper but again confuse which colour to pick which colour looks best in my living space???Which things makes my living room modern style want to change curtains instead of curtains i want blinds we are changing our sofa in to leather sofa basically we are changing every thing i have through launch living area so if we put our sofas in a bar we front of each other one third of area is empty please suggest us what to do which things best for us.waiting for your response.thanks

My suggestion is, before you think about furniture, paint
and accessories I would start by creating a colour palette for the room.
Usually I would stick to three colours- two primary colours and the third
incorporated through accessories such as cushions etc.

Once you have your colour palette decided, you need to make
one colour your wall colour and if you do go for a feature wall, make sure that
colour is consistent with the pattern. Does that room have any windows? I’m
unable to tell from the photos. If it doesn’t, I would recommend a white oak
brushed laminate flooring. Being as you’re aiming for a modern design, I would
keep the colours light.

Say your palette was for example white, taupe and black. Perhaps
have white walls with a nice feature wall that includes taupe and then
accessorise with a nice black gloss coffee table, vase, black and white
cushions etc. You could also have white wooden blinds.

I would recommend you change the oak doors unless you want a
rustic theme, then you could go down the oak road. You could also try painting them white.

There’s so many options for your space because the room is
such a good size. I would first think what style do I want, what colours do I
want and then progress from there.

Hi Shell,

We can completely understand your situation, you are used to seeing your lounge like this, so trying to come up with a different design can be difficult.

Do you have a favourite colour? You have had purple up until now so you probably want something completely different? How about a light grey or a light blue? It would go nicely with the laminate floor if this is light wood. Then if you like wallpaper there are thousands of possibilities! You could choose something more fresh and modern. Your lounge is huge and it has big windows so it could look amazing!

Yes, they all go together but you need to inject some more personality into the room. Like for example with a pop of your favourite colour on cushions, lamp shades, accessories or art. Like these examples. If you want to keep the scheme neutral you can reflect your personality in the room through textures and patterns on fabrics, cushions or rug in neutral tones. With a neutral colour schem you can't really go wrong. What you have to be careful about is to balance the cool and warm tones in proportions. Hi. It's quite difficult to get wood floors to work together with different plank widths, thickness, colour, grain etc. Personally I'd go for a chevron, it will make the room feel wider and I think would work well. Choose one which has one of the tones of the kitchen floor in it. If it's in budget, I quite like the design of the built in units by Cato Creatives in your ideabook. The raised storage part (which presumably would be useful) won't make the room feel any narrower as you can see the floor beneath. You could also paint behind the shelves in a darker tone to break up the long wall and disguise the tv. If the tv fits in the left alcove I'd put it there as it looks as if it would leave room for a chair where the tv currently is with a small side table? I'd add an arc lamp behind the sofa as per 3rd pic in black and brass. Depending on sofa size is there also room for a sofa table at the end of the sofa like the 3rd pic? I'd add a large round mirror over the fire and art behind the sofa. Which way does the room face as I might just go for a white with a hint of grey on the wall? If in budget I might just go for Roman blinds as they win the visually fill the room

Thanks @colourhappy :-) I know I bang on a bit about it but it is a fantastic grey for anyone wanting to go dark but afraid of it feeling really cold, I tried loads but this one hit the spot for me, I originally got it as a premixed colour from Homebase, done a wall and loved it, they discontinued it and I then discovered that you can get it mixed! The scrubbable Matt takes so much abuse, usually any dark coloured paint that you wipe can leave water marks, not this, I’ve scrubbed grease of it that accidentally splashed on it and no issues! Big head up for crown paint in general, esp the scrubbable range, covers so well and lovely to paint with.

Hi,

Thank you all for your kind reply, what I
have in mind is laminate floor of light colour. Regarding the doors thinking of
pure Oak doors, can they be polished to turn them to any suitable colour? Also
instead of curtains I would like to have white colour blinds. As you can see in
the pictures of the lounge, I would like to have TV to the opposite wall of
where it is at the moment or somewhere more suitable, as TV will be of around
50 inch in size so this is something to consider.

Currently there are 3 sofas in the room but
I would like to have 2, also can change the position of the radiators to a more
suitable place. Would like suggestion for the colours of the walls as well. Would
like to have a suggestion where sofas can be placed as if the TV is moved to
the opposite side what other items can be placed in the room like chairs, side
or coffee table including lamps, wall picture frames etc and the positions of
these items.

White wooden blinds are very modern, especially with light laminate
flooring. You can stain oak doors darker to a walnut colour. You could then go for light laminate flooring, white walls, walnut furniture and accessorise with grey. Or you can switch up the colours.
