Living room furniture lay-out advice
Comments (10)Hi Clair, It is indeed a very tricky room with all the doorways around and the need to keep flow. The best in these cases is usually to go for flexible pieces of furniture that can be moved around easily to adjust the room to your needs, so I'm afraid that an L shaped sofa might not be the best choice as you mention yourself no matter how you look at it you might be disrupting a flow somewhere. Poufs, Ottomans, Small vintage nursing chairs (these are on wheels so can be moved around), are all great options. For example this picture where the poufs are placed under the coffee table and can be taken out when additional seating or even side tables are required. Comments (4)My suggestion is, before you think about furniture, paint and accessories I would start by creating a colour palette for the room. Usually I would stick to three colours- two primary colours and the third incorporated through accessories such as cushions etc. Once you have your colour palette decided, you need to make one colour your wall colour and if you do go for a feature wall, make sure that colour is consistent with the pattern. Does that room have any windows? I’m unable to tell from the photos. If it doesn’t, I would recommend a white oak brushed laminate flooring. Being as you’re aiming for a modern design, I would keep the colours light. Say your palette was for example white, taupe and black. Perhaps have white walls with a nice feature wall that includes taupe and then accessorise with a nice black gloss coffee table, vase, black and white cushions etc. You could also have white wooden blinds. I would recommend you change the oak doors unless you want a rustic theme, then you could go down the oak road. You could also try painting them white. There’s so many options for your space because the room is such a good size. I would first think what style do I want, what colours do I want and then progress from there. Hopefully I’ve helped a bit! https://jlouisainteriors.wixsite.com/website...See MoreWant to redecorate my through launch living room
Comments (2)Look at Houzz Photos. Enter your search terms in quotation marks. For example, "modern living room with three walls." The term "launch" to describe your room is not familiar to me, so I am thinking it must be a regional term. Keep entering descriptions in the Houzz Photos section. You can save the photos you like in an Ideabook. Look at Using Houzz for instructions....See MoreI want my through lounge to be just a living area
Comments (16)Apologies for the radio silence. My wifi has been down. Thank you Carolina for your input. You are all so giving of your time. I think I've finally settled on elements of all of the ideas, but would really appreciate some final input, if you can visualise what I am trying to get across. The "down time" has given me some space to reflect and also to look at furniture. I dragged my other half to DFS and Sofology this weekend, much to his dismay! :) I'm looking at moving the door, as suggested by MATH to the other side of the support wall. That would give a bigger expanse for the TV to sit on a nice big unit, more central along that wall. With a big Loch Leven sofa from DFS in charcoal leather along the opposite wall. I'm thinking of the small Joules Windsor (DFS) in yellow velvet for in front of the bay. This would give us ample seating around the telly. I'll still have enough room for 2 big comfy fireside chairs in charcoal velvet, a square charcoal leather pouffe and a coffee table. I have dark stripped floorboards and so will probably have white walls, big monochrome prints on the walls and lots of scatter cushions to bring colours together. I know you have all been so generous with your time and ideas so far. What do you think of this plan?...See MoreKerry Bryan Interiors
