Comments (27)I would have snapped it up too. I'm actually put of by 'staged' houses, I'd rather buy somewhere that needs bringing back to life. It looks fabulous now, but probably looked fabulous in it's heyday. We looked at a house that was very retro and sixties and although the estate agents were sniggering at the decor, it was obvious that the couple who initially had it were arty and stylish in their day....See More1930s semi plans: have we got it right?
Comments (20)The first render has an island, it's just against the wall to give you more counter space. However, you could shorten it down and leave a gap both sides. I hear what you're saying about having what you want, especially if you've set your heart on an Island. It's the entrance that causes the problems for you as it eats in to the room and thus causes a problem with enough room to walk around . In order to get your 1m gap to walk through you have to move the island 1.5m from the Units, and that's fine if you don't mind that. You could swing the whole thing round like this:- It does create a funny little gap between the entrance and the island, but that too is fine, if you don't mind. However, of course you are quite right, you can amend the length and depth of your island and go for a different sofa layout! Super !...See MoreFinal Kitchen Plan!??
Comments (10)Hi Mags- I went in to my kitchen to compare my “core” base unit, non-food kitchen item storage to yours. Overall I have 2.4m width across 4 cabinets (an 800, 2 x 600, and a 400), whereas it looks like you have 3.1m across 5 cabinets (2 x 800s and 3 x 500s). However, if I add up all the drawer surfaces, I have a total of 17 visible and hidden internal drawers and 10.2m in width across the units. It’s the internal drawers that make a big difference in increasing the storage space and improving organisation, so really worth making sure you aren’t losing out on it by only having deep drawers. All of this is supplemented by some other specialty cabinets ( a 200mm wide cupboard for trays, a 150mm bottle pullout, shallow baking pan drawers under the ovens, etc) but that’s the main storage. I do have...See MorePros/Cons of having a TV in an open plan kitchen/diner/living room
Comments (2)It depends whether family members like watching tv and whether you all like the same programmes. I like to watch tv when I’m cooking, there’s only the two of us. We have very different tastes so OH will watch his on living room TV and I watch mine in the kitchen. If there’s something we both enjoy then we’ll watch that in the living room. No strict rules....See MoreEmmanuelle
