This door/cabinet was custom made and installed by my cabinet maker in Minneapolis, MN. He has done work in New York, so I'm sure he could help you out if you can't source anyone local. Let me know if you need his contact info. Thanks!

Hi Bandy. What a great, interesting flat - congratulations! One Plan will come up with some great ideas (she always does), but I would live with the space for a while before I made any changes. Explaining how you use the space is really helpful and should make you certain that you shouldn't compromise a good-sized living, dining and kitchen space for the occasional visitor by creating a second bedroom. You are right that it is a shame that the big storage cupboard blocks the flow and the light from the window and creates a tiny little area behind it. But you will need storage and if you knock it out, you'll have to move the boiler or build around it somehow (first option is expensive, second will still give you a bumpy bit that still gets in the way of what the former owners had as a dining area). And the bathroom is big for a one bedroom flat, but I bet it is quite luxurious and I don't think you gain that much by shaving a bit off the side. Plus you'll have to move the toilet, probably muck with the end of the kitchen, and spend a lot of money :( So live with it for a bit. Maybe put a funky desk (and old school desk would be great) between the back of the storage cupboard and the window, so it is a nice office alcove, the dining table near the windows and kitchen, and move the living area down toward the other end and see how things work for you. I've been mulling over this one too ! I think if I, as in me personally, were living here, I would put a Murphy bed in the top left corner of the lounge - so I'd wake up with the sun coming in ... I'd put a run of ceiling high wardrobes with rolling ladder along the right lounge wall to the new door ... ( so it would look like enclose library cupboards ) I'd put tall integrated FF, oven and tall store cupboard the other side of the fire place ( to match the closed Murphy bed ) I'd knock down the bedroom /kitchen wall have an island for my sink / hob and to eat at - I'd put an L shape sofa in front of the fire, floated in the middle of the room as would need to be cosy - it's a NE facing room remember - then in the old bedroom space is have shower where the old entrance was, opening into the loo area . ( you could possibly put a bath with shower over - but it would feel a bit too enclosed for me ) I'd straighten the loo wall to the window and replace opening door with sliding one . And I'd have a second seating area in the old bedroom that will be the sunniest spot all afternoon and evening ... Perhaps have a sofa bed in that spot . I doubt that it would increase the value though ! As would loose the classification that a separate bedroom brings... But use the best of the natural light that makes living nicer ! Adding an incredibly rough sketch as I'm mad busy at the moment - but as you asked specifically - I wanted to make sure I responded .

Hi Lauren, we're too far away to be of too much help, but the product range we offer most office is theCrown Living / Lifespace range. They have a huge range of door colours/styles (Over 120 at last count!) in matts, gloss, sparkes, painted woods/woodgrains, metalics etc. and a very flexible system. We recently came up against Sharps, and our quote for a similar configuration/style was around half the price of Sharps. If you pick carefully your styles and mix of units, it can be very good value. You could find your local dealer at this link. Alternatively if you struggle to track down a dealer, we could quote for supply only and have delivered direct to you if you have your own fitter lined up, though obviously we are too far away to offer our usual levels of service.

Hi there, We had exactly the same problem about 6 months ago and despite all the squared scale paper in the world, I just couldn't imagine how it was going to look and went round and round in circles! Have you considered a concept planner? We used one and despite the fact I was standing in 3 separate rooms with doors, windows and openings in completely different places, she worked off the architect's plans and came up with photo quality 3D renders showing exactly how the different options would look. We even had a YouTube video of the 4 different layouts, so you could see how it would look as you walked around the room. The pics below show the room I was stood in as our concept planner did the 3D renders, how they actually looked and how the room as turned out. I am a huge fan and find the whole thing quite fascinating- it's like looking i to the future :) Thanks to using them, we were able to order our kitchen before the building work was done, so didn't have to go without a kitchen for ages! How the 3 separate rooms looked when the plans were done by our concept planner... A few of the 3D renders that she did at exactly the same time... And how it turned out.. It's completely cheating but it makes it a lot more fun and in our experience a lot less stressful :) Best wishes, Claire
