Love the bright color of this dining room and also the color of the kitchen in this B&B! Could you tell us what they are?

We didn't repaint the dining room, but the kitchen is Paris Rain by Benjamin Moore.

It largely depends on the look you want; if snug and dark you could paint the walls and ceiling out in navy (like Stiffkey blue, Farrow & Ball) then add in a nice big cosy rug and a sofa. Navy is the new neutral and goes with most colours so you could add a slightly eccentric Ochre yellow or bright pink sofa for some fun. Equally you could go for a warm beige as suggested above; the floor looks hard and quite cold so I think a large warm rug regardless. All the best Helen

You could go for completely white washable Matt, then around each boys bed you could have objects on shelves, rugs etc that are particular to them and their ages. This will help you create a room applicable to both boys. Plain white will also make the room look larger. You could also go for a pale light blue or a light grey as a base and do the same with shelving for night lights etc.

So you get sun for a good part of the day which means the room is quite bright. The black sofas are light sapping, so if you are keeping them you need the throws and cushions to help brighten them up. I rather like your dark wood furniture and they will be improved with plants to give a bit of a colonial or tropical vibe. You could wallpaper one wall in something a bit tropical to add lovely greens. Some are quite colourful so you can pick colours out for your accessories. In which case a nice soft white on the rest of the walls would look great. The wall behind the tv and table looks like a good wall to wallpaper. You can’t deny it gives you plenty of colour!

Hague blue can look good with a variety of colours: dusky pink like Setting Plaster, or a type of India yellow for example. However it depends on how much colour you would like to have. You can introduce these other colours using furnishings rather than paint colours and stick to a neutral like Dimity for the walls. On the other hand if you like the drama of the blue and want to achieve a flow throughout the l-shaped space, then continue with the Hague blue. I haven't really answered your question, but I hope my ramblings help. Good luck.
