Hi help with making kitchen diner flow
Comments (21)Lovely colour scheme. I think your only problem is that it is a bit too elongated. Solve this by turning the table and rug round, short end to the wall and it will help widen the dining end of the room. I would change the blind to a mauve shade and put some big pictures with matching mauve coloured frames on the kitchen and dining room walls. A matching vase with pink/purple/blue/white flowers on the table -will tie it all together. The chair is cute - perhaps there is space at the end opposite the kitchen to put it with a little table and one of the lanterns beside it or a magazine rack? Don't get rid of the rug as it breaks up the floor space - the room will look even longer without it - I would add a small matching rug at the kitchen end too. Hope this may help....See MoreHelp on Kitchen diner layout
Comments (4)Hi Iveta, I think what you are asking of us is quite a lot! Honestly, I would either break this question up into smaller requests or alternatively ask a professional you have been following for some paid advice. I have a realistically priced, online product where I could design this for you, however, you really are asking of at least 8 hours of an experienced person's time to answer this one question. My product is called Design My Room and you can read about it here: http://www.inventdesigncreate.com/design-my-room/ I think your existing space is fantastic and there is loads of potential, but Im sure you know that already! You are so lucky to have a gorgeous home. Good luck. Jo x...See MoreCan you help with colour scheme for kitchen/diner
Comments (10)Hi. The kitchen looks a very different colour online! I'm assuming you don't want much contrast with the units based on the colour pics? You're going to need a warm grey but it may take some time to find the right one :( I would start with farrow and ball skimming stone (pic shows it in a north facing room), slipper satin and ammonite. I think you can afford to go darker on that dining wall, have you considered a textured wallpaper, faux grasscloth etc? Based on your first pic you like neutrals mixed with lots of texture so you could go for greige sofa (maybe a shade or 2 lighter than walls/kitchen) and then add your colour plus different shades of the greige from really light to fairly dark with different textures for cushions, throw and accessories. Alternatively you could go for a blush pink or duck egg sofa. Plants, herbs, flowers will lift the room. Perhaps add a really large mirror where the sofas are to make it feel wider and bounce light....See MoreKitchen diner, or kitchen, living diner?
Comments (24)Yes we needed an RSJ and all of the walls underpinning as there were no foundations. Was very costly but definitely worth it as we live in that end of the house. I think that With having an older property, costs do just spiral. I can’t remember how much the RSJ was, sorry. i think our building work was about £25000. Can you leave the fireplace in and have it open so you can see it from both sides? Then have your kitchen and dining in the current lounge and your living area where it is at the moment but open it up apart from the firePlace? We’ve left in our old exposed stone work and cleaned it up....See Morenicolabeckett25
