Our sinks were built in, but their cabinets were low and bending hurt my back. I determined the cabinets could be raised by adding a horizontal board just above the place at bottom that is indented for your toes. It added about five inches, bringing the counters up to the height of our kitchen counters. The board was stained to match the cabinet and is right under where the cabinet doors open. The line of the board is hidden by a length of wood trim. This raising up did require adding pipe to the water lines under the sinks to fill the pipe gap; moving the very large mirrors (no breaks or chips!) upward and moving the lighting above the mirrors up, as well. Took one day of work by carpenter and helper. Well worth the cost.

Hen Pen? we have an area of our property which is already fenced off in a sense and my wife would like to utilise this space for keeping some hens. the area in question is roughly triangular with lots of trees and shrubs in it. we aren't removing these and we already have an old double decker rabbit hutch and an Omlet to house the hens. just wondering if there were any other good ideas for making it a good safe area for the fowls and our children? thanks

your lovely kitchen seems to recede into the walls as in my opinion there is not enough contrast and wevet may have the same issue.....so personally I would choose a stronger colour....don't forget you won't see much as most of the wall is covered with cabinets. Also with a window and French doors and a pale reflective floor it will be reasonably light. Choose a colour that you like that is used elsewhere in the house that you like and it will lend continuity. how about Farrow and Balls India Yellow?
