Advice needed - how to revamp our storage room?

We have a small storage room downstairs roughly measuring 1.2m long and 0.7m wide (see pic attached) At the moment it is just dumping ground and I'd like to turn it into a more useful boot room/storage space for the family. Ideally I would like to have:

- a good sized shoe storage solution for the family
- coat/bag/scarf hanging space
- a space to store the pram

Any ideas how I can design the space so that I have all the above?

You can add as many pegs as you need off which to hang pram, coats etc.

If you want a very cheap option, you can mix your own chalk paint. You can order calcium carbonate (chalk) from Amazon for for around £2 (you only need the smallest size) and then mix with any Matt paint you like, you would only have to buy a couple of tester pots or use up any paint you have used previously and still like. Very simple to do and lots of guidance online, simply type in "chalk paint recipes" you can then seal the bed with wax or for a more durable finish, spray with satin wood varnish (B&Q) sell one for around £6. hi I love the elegant look of this room. I particularly like the colour and style of your furniture (looks pinky tone on my pic which is lovely) I think you need a little more drama in there and agree paint chimney breast I would go really dark and moody to lift your wall paper and furniture like a chalky charcoal in silk to pick up shimmer in paper I would keep accessories in either silver or gold I would choose silver chrome to pick up the beautiful mirror which I love and feel chrome will give it a more edgey look. keep paintwork white to contrast. im not s lover of the corner unit and would go with ladder shelves in white or a drinks table in lovely chrome and lovely mirrored pieces thats what I see anyway but lovely starting point would not dismiss tinkering with it a bit more. lots to like there already

I would look at a standard laurel. Something like this will cost around £120 each for a decent size. You should plant these every 120cm-150cm. Don't forget that you can add height by building a raised border around the perimeter. You could also look at Photinia Red Robin. But get them professionally pruned each year as photinias will get very straggly if you just trim the outside branches as you need to take out some of the centre wood to promote thicker growth.

Gridwall also do excellent products for small walk in wardrobes or storage / utility cupboards like yours. As it is pretty flat to the wall, it makes good use of small areas. Our daughter has used this in her pantry cupboard, which is about the same size. You can put up one wall, like the peg wall and then use the accessories such as hooks and baskets, which simply hang off it. Great products. Direct Slatwall UK

It will be a very awkward space to get into to retrieve shoes and coats, and a buggy/hoover etc would block it completely. I assume you can't have doors on the long side to make it a more useable space (as in Patrina's first image)? If not how about splitting it vertically, having a large pull out drawer for shoes at the bottom, and a tall one for coats above. Is there another area to keep a buggy (car boot/porch/utility?)

I like the pull out cupboards, excellent idea. At only 700mm wide, lets face it, you can't go in, so Jen is right the depth makes it awkward. Quite often those cupboards are near to kitchens and bathrooms, and are made that deep so that you can put a washing machine and tumble dryer in one on top of the other, plus have space in front for the washing machine door to open. They're ideal Utility cupboards for people that want to free up space in a kitchen. However, they're great storage if you can figure it out.
