I want to start a garden with garden rooms each with a different design but don't know where to start

There are some garden professionals in here that might help but I’ve had quite a few gardens in my time and I know that creating several garden rooms will be expensive. And creating garden rooms really does take planning. I started most of my gardens by buying and planting plants with the knowledge I’ll move them in a semi-informed trial and error way but Garden rooms need immediate structure whether that’s hard landscaping or pergolas or mature hedging plants. So really the gist of my comment is you need a plan! So hopefully a pro will step in. But why don’t you add some details about your property such as size and orientation in the meantime ?

Hi, yes, I do try to grow my own veg. I say try, because it's a case of hit and miss. And then try again. But it's so very satisfying when you see your plants grow and you can actually eat what you've grown yourself. So I would definitely recommend it. It's fun and can also be very frustrating. But mostly fun. Even a big pot on your patio, with leaf salad in it is hugely satisfying. Just go out and pick the leaves you need for your salad and let the rest grow for the next time. Anyway, when you grow from seed, water every day. Important to keep the soil moist for the seeds to be able to develop. There's a lot of interesting information on Pinterest and Instagram. If I want to grow green beans for example, I search pinterest for tips on growing them. And I follow a lot of allotment people on Insta. Also, look for Charles Dowding on youtube. What do you want to grow? I like to interplant my vegetables with flowers. Makes it look pretty and some flowers have beneficial qualities for the veg. So for example Tagetes (also easy to grow from seed) work against some harmful nematodes that eat your potatoes.

Oh my word! Dyson is adorable! so ickle!! Now I wanna find a Rune (his name - like rune stones.. not like Rooney 😂) sized box to put him in. Thanks for the 3rd design! I'm always impressed how you come up with such interesting designs (compared to my rectangle of grass with straight boarders I'd envisioned) I think we still prefer the 1st design in part because Chris want's to keep more of the grass. I'd be tempted though to put some sort of low fence to deter Rune from eating crops so maybe I could put some plants against it and growing up that to help disguise? I think the old paving slabs is the best way forward atm instead of the stones... I never truly appreciated how many stones there were just around the garden... just around on the grass.. close to the house and rubble left from the building work, random ones on the small remaining bit of patio that I think have been kicked in from the driveway... Ironically the pile of new ones all in one place are the easiest to keep him away from! (doing the driveway has also jumped up to a higher priority for the year! 🙈) Does Dyson like your Dyson? (assuming you have one) I managed to terrify him the other day when I tried to clear up some of the bits of grass we'd brought back in with us (despite having a treat at the time!)

I want to have no lawn garden due to having 2 dogs. I was starting my garden ages ago but tried to finish off house things first I need garden design help I like my raised bed the hut will be replaced and moved to other side as I don’t want to be sitting looking into bins they will go behind a trellis I screen . Kinda like 3 diff areas but though about raised beds at the side. Now I’m confused I will be doing this myself on a tight budget buying things when I can Dug up so much like a swamp with the dogs not very nice Any help drawings anything would be appreciated I was going to try garden designers but the cost just can’t do it. I have 20 reclaimed slabs lying as well. I do also think painting the paving at my back door light grey to make colour mor uniform. Thanks in advance.

40cm is too much for a safe and comfortable step. It would be useful if you could add some measurements to the sketch and where does the path on the left go? You could possibly get away with raising the patio 20cm. I don't think raised beds are necessary but it is difficult to tell levels. etc. from your sketch. You may need a decking skirt or something to cover the raised patio edges, such as a brick plinth.
