Hello, the wall is 3370mm, the range cooker 1000mm and the width of the chimney area is 1600.... hope this helps.

I have a friend who put one of our 260mm x 2.20m planks in his living room, which measured 4.50m x 3.50m (15.75sqm). It didn't look right in the room, the planks were too big for the area. He should have gone with our 190mm x 1.860m plank. 19cm wide planks are still relatively wide. Its nice to have a wide long plank, it accentuates the length of the room, always run the length of the room, and toward the light - so pointing toward the windows. If you think about it - it is easier to yield short narrow planks of wood from a tree, this is why narrow short boards are the cheapest. They make the room look stubby These were popular in England and yes, are still popular in the States (they are 10-15 years behind us in wood flooring). Getting a wider and longer cut of wood is more desirable and looks more attractive. I would opt for a 190mm board or similar. 2 of the rooms you are doing are very big, you could work a wider board in here. But you want continuity throughout so need to take into account the other smaller rooms. Amer Which sort of colours are you interested in? This is similar to another post on here, where they are nearing the end of the build and are now starting to think about furniture placement. You have to do the furniture from the off set, otherwise you run the risk of not being able to lay out a room well. Your husband may not want to indent the room too much visually but i'm sure you will want a T.V in the lounge area, so you need to work out where you will put the sofa and T.V before you build. Hopefully the 2.2 metres is the internal space not the external, is there a reason why it's so narrow? It's going to be difficult to put the furniture in there regardless due to the size restriction. I've just measured our dining table, and when you pull the chairs out either side in order to sit down from chair to chair it measures 2.1 metres, so you can see just how tight the space will be. As you see from the renders above I had to move the furniture backwards in to the existing room in order to fit it in............so it's really important to think about it carefully. This is an average sofa and table fitted in to the extension space without going backwards in to the existing room................as you see, it barely fits.

It might be a good idea to get a builder to advise you about adhesives, or drilling into steel. I would imagine its difficult to drill into it, so you might need to hire a builder anyway. I was imagining a wooden batten that spans all the way across, sort of resting on top, but I suppose the bolts stick up a bit, so maybe that area would need to be carved out to accommodate the bolts. Are you planning on having heavy curatins or just some lightweight sheers?
