What colour/fabric to use for roman blind in Moroccan/Indian bedroom?

Needing help with the final piece of the puzzle in my green bedroom which gets little natural light. Painted in breakfast room green and has an eclectic Indian/Moroccan look to it. Just need a window dressing. Thinking of a roman blind in an ikat fabric but open to suggestion on type of dressing/fabric but mainly pattern and colour. Probably something light but not white.

I like what you've done so far!

My suggestion is to go hunting for vintage saris on ebay, and make a blind from that. I think they're beautiful and while they wouldn't suit every project, they certainly would suit here. You'd struggle to match the green, but cream, pale grey, or heavily embroidered with gold or silver thread would all look great, or perhaps maroon or dusty pink if you want a contrast. If your window is wider than one sari width it might take some juggling to take advantage of the most embroidered end, but I think it would be well worth it.

Be careful using silk as it will rot in sunlight.

Why not have a look at the fabric company Malabar - for example their Cocomaloo or Junkanoo fabrics which have ikat stripes. Some of their Chimichanga or Carioca collections might work well too.

Thanks Carolina..love the way you've used the photo..very impressive . So many ideas to look at and I think I have a mirror exactly like that somewhere. Lovely bedside tables too..thanks so much. Minnie great colours ..I like those patterns and fabrics a lot. Ive been thinking about a bed end stool..will keep an eye out for one. The shade is new and so much bigger than I thought it would be..should have measured. I kind of like the bohemian look of it to be honest ..thanks so much .

Hi, I live in a Victorian house too with a bay - and had a similar dilemma. Someone on a forum recommended a company in Wales (I think!) that make lovely iron curtain poles - so that’s what we did, and we’ve never looked back!! The company have a (basic) website - it explains how to measure (you have to do several measurements which they then use to ensure a perfect fit!). The pole arrived as one solid piece that was bent at all the right places. We chose a gorgeous white with simple small white balls as the finals. You can choose different thicknesses of pole too. It’s attached to the wall with 3 fittings - one in the middle and one at each end. In theory we could have just two wide curtains on it, but in reality we chose to hang 4 curtains - one on each end and one in each corner to pull across the back. We went for white as we didn’t want the heavy look of the black poles - our house had those when we moved in and we wanted something a bit different and more neutral. We hung light white curtains to start with but currently have a heavy dark grey velvet. Both looked great with the pole as it’s very unobtrusive. I can’t remember the cost but I do remember it being cheaper than I was expecting - more than Ikea (!!) but less than John Lewis - and it’s totally bespoke and one one solid pole. Hi, Did you know using a site like coolors.co you can generate a colour palette from the wallpaper you have chosen. I found the image that you shared above and created this. The numbers are colour HEX references. As you are using white and grey in most of the furniture and carpet I would use a go for a stronger pink on the remaining walls. If you opt for a very light pink it may look wishy washy but it does also depend on the bedding, accessories and lighting you opt for in the room. If you pump these full of colour then a lighter wall colour will just fade away. Pick out the gold in the wallpaper for some fun accessories.
