How do these gutters work and how do you keep them from leaking?

I think that is so cool that your gutters are so far away from your actual roof. I really like it's look. My own gutters are more traditional, but they're leaking from a few points. I should probably find someone to repair them. How exactly do yours work and how do you keep them from leaking? http://www.bcconstructionservices.com/gutters

I'm glad you like the gutter. Unfortunately, this is a custom gutter that would not translate easily to most houses. You can find a bit more of a description at this link: http://www.residentialarchitect.com/projects/rain-go-away_o

I would recommend finding a reputable roofing & gutter company in your area to repair your gutter. Leaky gutters can cause further water damage. Make sure you have them cleaned out regularly as well.

if you add white boarders around your windows it will give the impression they are larger than they actually are ! using warm white as a base paint will keep the space feeling larger - then as blocks of colour as and where you like them perhaps ?! also you could maybe get some colour in with Philips LED light changers ?!

I would love to be able to take the bike to work, but when you are a European and used to the other side of the road, it just is impossible. Cycling in central London sounds like a very dangerous ride for me.

Hi, there are latches that fit to the outside of the door, top or bottom, with a hook that goes into a circular loop to hold it open, something like this. An alternative is a door stop which is usually a weighted fabric cube or one made of wrought iron.

We live in the country and get a fair amount of critters of various sorts. We have a commercial electricutor thingy with a UV tube for flies, which worked well but we noticed that we were also getting a few bees and hoverflies, zapped. So we have stopped using it now and have been trying out venus flytraps this year with a fair amount of success. I feel the number of flies has been less. As to other creepy crawlies, being in an old house, we get a lot of spiders, they either get ignored or safely captured and evicted. Last summer, we had a swarm of hornets that used to pitch up about 8.00 every evening and literally swarm around at the windows attracted by the lights - it was really quite horrific. It was such a nuisance too, as we couldn't open any windows or doors in the evening but we didn't know where the nest was, so we couldn't get rid of it. But they seemed to have not survived last winter, so none this year. But we've been plagued with wasp this summer, we actually had 6 different nests around the outside of the house and we had to have the pest man out a few times - I think it cost us nearly £300 in the end for all the call outs.
