Design advice. Which do you like?
I'm just looking for someone else's opinion and design eye. House has a beige/gold theme, but I like the modern look of grey and whites. I am trying to find a way to make this beige/gold look and feel more modern. I decided on a teal and gold/yellow theme. Can you please tell me which combination of carpet and canvas you like? (Note: the pics are collages so you can see them side by side). I will use these as the base for the room and design around them. The right are pictures of the house and wall color (we will be keeping the couch).

Which wallpaper do you like better?
Comments (0)Because I am an idiot who can't measure things, I just discovered that the wallpaper (option 1) I chose for the bottom half of our hall, under the dado rail, will be really expensive to use. I have already spent £200 on it and can't return it but need maybe triple. So, was thinking of just cutting my losses and using it as a feature wall somewhere else and buying something else (option 2). It's just as expensive, but I have a voucher for the store for £100. Pros of option 1: I already have spent money on it. It's self-adhesive so I don't have to use wallpaper paste. It's handmade so is quite unusual. Pros of option 2: I *think* this one may be better quality, it's a designer make so while it will cost around the same I'll feel more excited by it, I have a £100 voucher for the shop. I could kick myself for doing this. Such a stupid waste of money. Comments (5)See below the plan of the house as I bought it: Practically I have removed the partition walls as I wanted to open the space up and the wall between the bath and the kitchen as it was affected by damp. Here is how it looks now: I can play around only this space as the other walls are load bearing. One of the builders assured me we can chase the drain pipes without much hassle. The hallway would have some light through the kitchen door and its transom with the larger kitchen option. In case of the smaller kitchen, there would be plenty of light in the hallway from the bathroom and kitchen as I considered glass between kitchen and hallway. Comments (2)It’s a nice design! Tough choice on the tiles because I like both. I’d carry on the wooden tiles to the edge of the step so it looks streamlined but it’s entirely your choice. Perhaps you can lay the samples out again when your raised beds are done? One thing I notice with the raised beds is I don’t think the one one the left and the curved one will be wide enough. Not sure what you’re using to build them but when you’ve taken into account the thickness of the walls it will leave a lot less then 50cm width for the soil and plants. I’d have at least 40cm for the soil width (better for the plants) and an extra say 10cm for the wall each side but this is assuming they’re brick or block construction.
