Help needed with colour palette
Comments (7)Hi Jamie, Thank you! The horrible lights are just waiting for the electrician to change them but we do love the wall colour. The floors have been laid with reclaimed floorboards and stained in Antique brown- they are currently filthy due to all the prep of the woodwork and paint but once steam cleaned come up beautifully. The brown of the sofas and floor will be broken up by a large cream / grey rug and we've got built in seating going along the back wall with lots of cushions / fabrics to soften it all Here's a couple of pics. I also managed to find a pic of the Worsted for you- it's only behind the radiator at the moment as the plumber was coming so needed to be done (!!) but gives you an idea of how it looks on the wall. Taken in evening light in the first pic and daylight in the second. The other sample colour in the first pic (top left) is Manor House Grey. Definitely worth pointing out that none of this was my doing and we have an amazing designer (Gina from Create Perfect) who has pulled our entire colour pallet together. These are a couple the 3D renders she did for us to help us visualise everything! Hope this helps!...See MoreHow to get started designing your house colour palette?
Comments (1)I teach colour theory to art students and it's such a vast subject in terms of interiors. I read something once that said' how do you want a room to feel' and I think that's a good starting point. I recently bought a house that has some rooms that are a bit dark but it had a slightly seventies vibe. I have gone for this vibe throughout the house and used a limited palette based on what I already owned and the feel I was after. I picked out pale neutral colours that would work in light spaces, and related deeper ones that would work in darker spaces and a woodwork colour that could be used through out. The only difficult issue I find is not colour but temperature. Mixing cool neutrals and warm neutrals is difficult, light rooms can take anything but a north facing room with grey tiles and grey walls will not feel 'on trend' it will feel cold. So - make sure there is wood, and consider a palette that has some warmth (and that doesn't mean just reds and oranges but warm greens, warm greys etc). Also consider if the rooms are day rooms or night time rooms, that is important. Hope this helps....See MoreFinalise colour palette help in where we can use these in living room

Comments (6)I’d add colour in the lounge area. If you’re having dark grey floors and it’s not carpet add a big rug with colour. I’d be tempted to go with orange to add a bright contrast and there are some lovely sofas in bright colours. Also add artwork to the walls whether it’s abstract or something with colour. Whatever wood you’re thinking of for the dining area could you choose the same for a TV unit to pull it all together? I think Oak would suit....See MoreAnnie Hartig
