Comments (48)raine1200, the only difference between a slug and a snail is the shell on the snail from what I've been taught. As far as using oak leaves as a mulch, be very careful as it takes 7 years for them to decay. We used to put the oak leaves in our garden as we have 2 neighbors with 35' oak trees who don't feel compelled to pick up the leaves in the fall so they end up in front of our house. My husband is almost fanatical to make sure every leaf is picked up so he's taken it upon himself to pick them up out of the street, and put them in our garden until he started researching why they didn't break down over the long wet winters here in the Pacifc Northwest, and found it takes 7 years for them to decay. Comments (12)Hello Tani, Ah I thought it was for you.. You're moving aren't you? Anyway, sorry I added them right after I posted so you could see exactly what I mean.. Perhaps you can paint and paint the rail but leave the treads... That way the rails in place but you don't see it! It would though have to be in the colour of the walls to work... You could even paint the treads a completely different colour if you wanted to say blend with the floor? There are countless ways to deal with these stairs... So many options... So perhaps nothing really needed than a lick of paint (or not as you may prefer) and perhaps new treads.. Comments (8)I like your wood paneling and I think it is better to keep it as a character of your house and paint to the bright colour! Just in case, you can have some idea through these images of wood paneling and parquet flooring below. 1. White wood paneling with parquet flooring This white wood paneling gives minimal and contemporary looks and feeling. 2. Light gray wood paneling with parquet flooring 3. Beige wood paneling with parquet flooring And for parquet flooring, if the wood condition is still good then you may consider sanding the floor to get the nice smooth finish? 5 years agoI like the idea to make them all one colour, the white one might be a good option for the room. What colours are attached rooms (kitchen and sitting room)? It is important they have one colour scheme, it brings balance into design.
You also can add focal points. White colour is visually a bit cold in a winter time (personal experience). I solved that problem adding warm accents and decor, especially textile.
