Modern study for old house
Comments (1)Hi Gillian. Do you have any pictures? You could give it a slightly industrial or gentlemens club (clean kind!) feel and combine with modern colours such as greys, inky blues etc and add warm metallics for lamps etc. Andrew Martin also does a few wallpapers that would be great in a study which would suit an older house...See MoreWhat colour for a cosy study??
Comments (5)Green smoke from F&B could be the one ! I personally have it in party of my home and it’s a very mellow colour ! Easy to work with ! Have used it in hotel bars and reception areas before, for a cosy inviting and country vibe ... works beautifully with tan leather and books etc etc etc ... you get the idea !...See MoreInspiration sought for study
Comments (15)Thanks Mrs Math, wow that looks amazing. Not sure if it's very me though so will ponder that colour. I'm not at home today but the window only goes down as far as you can see, there is a radiator below it. I'll take another pic when I get home. The window on the long wall has possibly the worst view in the house, it looks over to the bins but I just tend to look up at the trees instead :) Colourhappy, the window you suggest putting the desk in front of does have a lovely view out to the garden but there is a large radiator there too so wasn't wanting to have the desk up against it. I really wasn't sure about rugs in there as I thought it might look "bitty" but the long rug against the wall sounds good. I think I might have one in the house somewhere too. Thank you both!...See MoreTiny student study/sleep space
Comments (59)Since the ceiling is so high, perhaps a darker color on the top part would create a more den-like feel. Solid color on the ceiling, perhaps a wallpaper on the walls (top 70cm or so). Some slaths along the edges and stategically placed vertical to make the walls look like paneling. All in white. Story: I lived in a 25m2 studio apartment (rental) before I bought a house with my love. The ceiling was 3m high. Bathroom (2.8x2.5m) had white tiled walls up to 2m and pale grey floortiles, no tub, very drab, very not me. So I painted the complete top part bright sky blue (and bought some retro showercurtain and bright colored towels). Best thing ever! And I'm not even a blue lover. Short: Some contrast makes a space come to life!
