Comments (11)Hello Claudia, Speaking from an art on walls point of view, I'm loving the challenge, so I present a few choice pieces for the wall above your two armchairs that I think will be a happy compliment to your existing decor and furnishings: As regards the picture above your piano, the colours work well with your room but you don't like the subject, right? If that's the case, this consideration will have to be a decision based on what subject(s) you really like or are quite sentimental to, as opposed to colour matching an art piece just to fit in with the rest of the room. If you do play the piano, musicians are very sentimental people, so you want something above the piano that you can "feel and connect to" when you're sitting there playing. It has to be sentimental to you, irrespective of what it is and what colour it may be, and not to consider it as part of the rooms overall decor. If there is anything I can be of further help with, feel free to contact me through my Houzz profile or website: http://thejonescollection.gallery All the best with whatever you decide to choose for your wall spaces....See MoreDo you prefer abstract art or traditional art?
Comments (16)I do not tend to go for either specifically. It is what ever I am drawn to at the time or as AJ INTERIOR STYLING LTD said, it is what fits in with the existing space. It is such a personal decision and as long as I am drawn to it.. I do not mind. I recently went to the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Fair and there was so much variety and talent it was hard to choose between a lot of them and what I did like was a big mix!...See MoreFeature art wall
Comments (0)Natalia’s first home! It was such fun helping her to get the look she wanted. I was initially invited for a 2 hour consultancy session which took place before she moved in; we talked about decor, storage, window dressings, furniture layout, wardrobe design, accessories and an art wall. It’s amazing how much you can cover in a short time and when I left I know Natalia’s head was spinning… in a good way! Happily she called me back once she had the keys to the apartment and asked me to design the art wall which had now become the focus of her attention. Natalia showed me the website she had found… Desenio.com. She loved almost everything on it so I asked her to draw up a wish-list! Room layout This is a 1-bedroom apartment in a period property conversion. The lounge is rectangular in shape with a beautiful window in the long wall and the door to the hall on the other. The kitchen units run along one of the short walls and the art would be placed opposite. I took into consideration the size of the doors on the kitchen units and decided to balance this by choosing large format framed prints instead of smaller ones. We had discussed the furniture layout so I knew a sofa would be sitting in the corner of the room and I felt this ought to be integrated and become part of the design. Decorating We wanted the ‘wow’ factor to do this lovely property justice and it took only a little convincing from me for Natalia to use the dark coffee colour (Royal Academy Basilica) for the short walls and a warm white (Fleur Snow White) for the rest of the walls and ceiling. Both colours are available online from paint supplier ColourandPaint.com. During the Christmas holiday break Natalia got out the paint roller and did some DIY! She didn’t have a hammer though… oh dear, I feel a song coming on… so I took a few bits and pieces with me when it came time to hang the pictures. Affordable art This art wall came in at around £300 – and yes, it is ‘wow-ing’ all Natalia’s friends. We were both pretty pleased with our handiwork too! With grateful thanks to photographer Christian Payne aka @Documentally. And thank you Desenio and ColourandPaint for being so supportive. See my Houzz profile for more photos of this project. Comments (3)Just being doing some more research regarding art and prints oh Houzz as i'm an artist myself with my own silkscreen print studio and looking to get my work out there and adopted my more people. I've been making work by hand using various experimental processes developed from the basic silkscreen process for around twelve years now mainly in the abstract / geometric genre. My love of of art came from album cover art originally. I have only just set up my account on here so its very new and i'm just getting to grips with how everything works. I have started to add a few samples of what i do on my profile and have some work available to buy via my own website. Not sure if i'm allowed to add links or not on these posts so do will avoid doing so for now. I also take on commissions occasionally. Feel free to message me if you if you would like to see examples of what i do. Looks like i can add photos to this post. I have just worked that out at least!..... all the best...See MoreInnovative Leather Wall Panels
