How can I furnish an awkwardly shaped living room?

This is the living room of the house we are about to move in to. We are currently looking at sofas and furnishings for the room but I am stuck with what will fit the space without cutting off doors, windows or the flow from the main entrance through to the kitchen diner (at the top of the plan). I am not sure whether the TV should be moved or if that would be too tricky and I am reluctant to put a chair where there is currently one blocking off the connection between the two doors. Any advise on what sofa size/shape we should look to buy and whether armchairs and other furniture would fit would be greatly appreciated. We are starting from scratch and it's quite overwhelming! Thank you.

Also, this is my inspiration photo for the kind of style that I want to create... I'm just not sure how to create it in the space!

I think the photos in the post show furniture that is visually too big for this room.
You could mark out furniture on the floor to get an idea of possible furniture positions and how big you can buy. Personally I think you will conclude you have room for one sofa no longer than 1.9m plus two chairs about 80x90cm each. If you choose lower and smaller arms than shown in the picture I think that will also help.

At quick glance, I would put the table near between the window and the "breakfast wall". The L shaped couch would be facing the long wall. To create some separation from the kitchen. TV set along the wall opposite to the kitchen. I hope it is of help

Hi. Personally I'd put a slatted room divider (just the unit width) at the end of the sink run to allow light and zone the kitchen area slightly. (I will try and find a picture showing the same in a similar kitchen). Assuming the fridge isn't staying, I'd just buy a white one so it blends in, maybe like a retro style one as they look a bit prettier. I'd also opt for a round table. You could paint the wall (and rad) behind the table a darker/warmer colour and add art. Hang the light low over the table to zone it and maybe have a mirror or mirror tiles on the left wall. You could also consider acrylic chairs as they don't visually fill the space. I'd go for a wider curtain pole to maximise light coming in. Sofa, choose something on legs with narrow arms, being able to see the floor will make the room bigger and maximise seating. I also wouldn't choose anything dark as it could take over the room, just use dark/warm colours for cushions and throw if wanted. There are plug in wall lights around which won't take up any floor space. I don't know if you need storage but you should be able to fit a sideboard between the dining and living area? Re shopping suggestions, you don't have any ideabooks set up so could you give people an idea of styles and colours you like?

Yes there are definitely other options, but one of my aims was to have an impressive feature wall, something to focus the attention away from the odd shape of the room. A "wow factor". When watching TV your eye is not constantly reminded that the room is offset. If you use that smaller wall you would always feel a void to you right hand side and very close wall to your left hand side. I didn't choose the fireplace wall either. Firstly because I thought that side window could be turned into a door leading to the garden and secondly because the living room door opening and closing while your watching T.V. would be in your line of sight an therefore annoying if the hall light is on. So I thought the "near" wall would be best option because it is actually the longest stretch of uninterrupted wall (the other wall has the living room door in it) so I could turn it in to a real feature, it focuses attention away from the rest of the room, creating a separate living room almost, it would have the best natural light and It is not interrupted by people walking in and out of the room. Anyway that was my logic.

Hi. So is it a modern coastal look that you're after? In terms of practicality does the room need to cope with people coming in with with surfboards and sand everywhere etc or not?! I don't know if I'd put the console etc where you put the chairs as it seems more practical for keys post etc and maybe the sofa where you put the console or in the middle of the curved wall? Is the curved wall measurement also correct? It seems longer but could be wrong!

To be clear I think the previous owners furniture is too big but I like your inspiration picture..... you just need to plan the furniture on the floor to check it fits
