Need a fridge/freezer which fits in line with kitchen cabinets for USA

Would like to find out about fridge/freezer that will fit in line with fitted kitchen cabinets. American fridges are so HUGE, I need one that fits within a small gallery kitchen much like the European fridges, but this is for a Kitchen in California. Do you know of any manufacturer in the USA that does this type of appliance?

You will need to purchase a ‘cabinet depth’ refrigerator- 24” deep. They are much more expensive then a ‘typical’ refrigerator but look great.

Dear Wombatchild The two double ovens are on that back wall. The distance from them to the end of the island is 2.6 mtrs. The bank of units is mirror imaged from the centre of the ovens and that means there are two slim pull out larder cupboards on that wall. That 2.6m means that they can be pulled out and it is still no problem for traffic to be flowing past. My hob is on the island itself and the extractor comes up through the granite when in use. That far end of the island is great for taking things out of the oven and checking on food ...... turning potatoes over etc... To the left of that bank of units is a door to my boot room so I need walk way space there. This thread is quite old now and I may be repeating something I typed earlier but I love my kitchen ( think it is about six years since I had it out in) ..... The only things I would have done differently would have been not to have stainless steel sinks as they are a devil to keep looking nice! And I would like more contemporary pendant lights over the island instead of those chrome chandeliers - can change them but still working on husband on that point!!!! X

Thanks for your thoughts. It is just for those kinds of days that you've mentioned so it does seem silly to cut into our our dining area but there is nowhere for one to go! We converted the garage and outbuildings for this extra space anyway. I've even looked for a slimmer fridge width but there doesn't seem to be anything available or one with a shallow depth for in the utility area.

Hi. There are loads of inspirational images on Houzz. I would start by piling through the kitchen pics and adding to an idea book anything you like. I am sure on a quick analysis of the idea-book afterwards it will become apparent the look/style you like and if integrated or American style FF are seen in those particular photos/kitchens :) Ultimately I think it depends on the look you're going for and how the space will work for you. Hi there, It's a lovely space and I am sure there are lots of options as mentioned already by Karen above. How would you like to use the island? Is it more for the aesthetic or do you want it for people to sit / perch at? Islands tend to lose a lot of storage if you want people to be able to sit at them, which necessitates the need for more wall cabinets etc but if you can use the 'back side' for more occasional items then the wall restrictions may be less of an issue. What sort of style are you thinking of going for? Open shelves can look fabulous and a great way of storing items that are used day in, day out. They can also be very budget friendly in comparison to wall cabinets. Have you considered banquette seating for the table, opposed to using all chairs? It tends to be quite space saving and quite versatile too. Best wishes Claire

Thank you! So which companies make this type of fridge? I am emailing you from the UK, we have no trouble getting this size of fridge here, but I am trying to find one for a smaller European style one for a house in California. The kitchen in this house is a narrower, galley style one, so a fridge that fits into the line of the cabinets would solve the problem. I appreciate any further help you can give.

In California you can get sub zero and kitchenaid and lieberr. In England you can get lieberr. Google counter depth refrigerator or built in refrigerator.

Brilliant! Thank you for answering my question- I actually have a Liebherr fridge/freezer myself in my kitchen here in Scotland, they are excellent and actually make the fridges that Miele self brand and then sell. So pleased to hear they are available in the USA! I will also take a look at the other brands you suggested, sub zero and kitchen aid. Thank you so much for your help!
