bedroom size upstairs

Hi we are renovating our whole house, it’s all knocked off upstairs.
We want atleast 4 good size double bedrooms. What would be the decent size of rooms to fit the good size cupboard, double size bed, study table and a small sitting area. The smaller guest room size is 2900x3600cm designed as per our architect, other rooms are approximately 200cm bigger. Please advice. It would be helpful if someone be kind enough to post the pic with furniture layout.

Do you have your plans available at all?

I picture of these would be helpful and easier to work from, to create layouts. :)

Thanks for your response. I am attaching the final plan for your reference.
Lots of things still needs to be sorted. Need expert advice.
1. On GF there is a door and solid wall to go to the lounge which we are expanding, we are in two minds to whether to keep or to remove the solid brick wall and replace with glass pocket door or slider to give a open look, or shall we keep the wall to maintain privacy and will get two walls on both sides to play with interiors ( size of the lounge is pretty ok)?

2. Shall we put glass partition or solid wall for the dining area showed in plan ( which we are planning to keep either as play room/study/spare room - to be decided later) - keeping the access from both sides- lounge and from outside. Advice please.

Upstairs:
3. Now as per the plan we are having 4 double bedrooms. We are converting the 5th bedroom in a very tiny box room ( not going for on suite as shown) access from BR3.

4. We have to get rid of the onsuite of BR2 ( which we are not very happy with :( ) and also had to compromise with the big family bathroom ( again not very happy) to make the landing bit open and big.
We are now thinking to make the landing bit small and keep the BR2 big by moving the family bathroom approximately 500 towards the landing and keep the landing small? Advice please.

5. Is the size of the onsuite ok or shall we move 4” towards the walk-in cupboard and make it big? We are still deciding on walk-in shower vs shower tray enclosure.

6. Will the Family bathroom be too congested? I have been advised to go with either 1000 x 1500 corner bath or 1200x750 shower bath, which I am not very convinced with. Can’t get everything ;)

7. Ideas on the location of bathroom fittings please.

8. We are going for water UFH on the ground floor.
Any advice on flooring for GF and FF.
We are thinking to keep the carpet and radiators for upstairs or laminated flooring recommend? Opinions pls.

8. Ideas on roof light/ roof lantern pls.

9. Advice on all the doors pls.

10. We are going for cove light, spot light and central light but confused to give the detailed design for electrical points. Electricians waiting !

Too many questions waiting for prompt positive response from the experts.

Anything's possible! You need to move the stairs to the left hand wall. You don't build the staircase to the top, instead you stop 3 or 4 steps from the top. The you have 3-4 steps going up to the right and again to the left. You will free up space in the lounge / diner and can probably knock through if that's your wish, but you'll need steel work for support. Lots of old two up two downs were actually built that way. So a builder should know perfectly well what you're talking about. The only draw back is, that the stairs will stick out into the room double width to allow for the extra half landing and steps, but just choose a narrow staircase. Bear in mind, you will want to get furniture up there, but most people in the victorian houses unless they're huge are used to flat pack as it's often the only option. You will of course have to step down on to the half landing and back up again the other side when going from the main bedroom across to the bathroom, but again, that's common place in that type of house. I was looking at an earlier post which showed the whole house because I think you need to think about the whole house. In my opinion however you extend you are limited by how you can do the roof. Although I am sure an architect could come up with innovative solutions I think the second storey at the back can’t be any wider than the lounge is long so to get enough upstairs space I wondered about building forward. (Which falls outside permitted development but may well be allowed) I enclose one option

There was probably a fireplace there that was removed. The idea is a vent helps to stop damp although opinion is divided about if this actually works. It will feel like there is a draft as this hole is big but if you put a grill on it the airflow will be reduced to a trickle. Search online for fireplace vents.

If you intend staying here for a decade then you should make this house work for you and not the next people. I think that since you have already flagged extending in 10 years you should also future proof your plans now. If it were me I would have a bedroom where the current big bathroom is in order to give you the possibility of later extending over the ground floor extension. I would also want a super sized bathroom for my use - I have always believe the person paying the mortgage should have a better bathroom than people who visit three times a year. And I would take the view that when a loft bedroom is later added it won’t matter if one of the four bedrooms is compact. So I offer an alternative.
