How to make my bedroom more cosy / glam - help?!
Comments (25)You could put bedside table next to the wall on the left and install a shelf above the heater and that can be your bedside on the right side. The room will look more balanced with the bed in the middle. Or if you can position bed to face your built in wardrobe. Either way you need to address the window covering. If you can find a heavy curtain and bedspread in the same fabric and hang curtain directly under the cornice and twice as wide as your window, that will give you the height and balance the window size and by matching fabric you will have continuity and avoid miss matching colours and patterns....See MoreApex window dressing - help!
Comments (18)Hi! Finally sorted & happy! I made 2 linen panel curtains with loose linings ( started with fixed linings but the panels were wavy when open). The panels are roughly the size of the window. I used a system called Integra Discreet Metal Curtain Track ( ceiling or wall fix) available through www.polesandblinds.com and bought a cording set to go with the system. it's simple but effective. I use a clear & hook to fix the drawn curtain panels in place. The added bonus is it was a very cheap product! The photos don't really do it justice!...See MoreHow to Design First Floor Extension
Comments (9)Hi Guys Thanks for the suggestions so far. Balcony a possibility and nice views out the back, although I wonder how much we would actually sit out there as opposed to the garden (it’s also west facing, so no sun in the morning when perhaps a coffee and newspaper might be the best time to take advantage sitting out there). That leads me to think inside space would be more useful, although agree that there should be a step / break in the brickwork externally where the landing is, to add some interest and not just have a flat wall across the back. I’ve had a go at drawing a version with two gable ends and a flat roof and lantern in the middle - not very well illustrated, but hopefully it is an improvement on the box option. Re changing the pitch of the roof, my concern is that it is already very shallow so whether this would affect performance? I don’t think we would be able to increase the height. Thanks again for all your comments and ideas, I will keep posting to let you know what happens and may employ one of you soon to do a proper design job on this :) Greg...See MoreArtex ceiling - and hatches into loft space - problem bedroom
