What brand of paint for kitchen cabinets?
Comments (5)I personally would not use any brand of eggshell paint on a kitchen cupboard, it is not robust enough for the job. Gloss or satinwood is what you should be looking at. I've always used Dulux, but have recently defected to Valspar ( crown ) at B&Q due to issues with colour mixing, colour matching. We have just painted our utility room using this including plastic pipework. It's holding up great. ( Valspar for wood and metal is what i've used ) - Just get a good all round primer which will be dictated to by the type of cupboard door you have - The Armstead range of primers at Dulux trade centres is great paint....See MorePainting kitchen cabinets
Comments (2)I’ve painted my kitchen dresser in craig and rose eggshell, no primer. I did at least five coats, often leaving 24 hours between each coat. It was done 3 years ago, I think, and is only starting to chip despite two dogs and a house move. I think the main factor in the chipping is that I throw toys for the dogs down the length of living room/kitchen and they bounce (quite hard) against the dresser. Also proved much easier to clean than the normal mdf kitchen doors at last house! At any rate, I’m pleased enough with it longevity wise that I’m contemplating painting the kitchen in the future....See MoreVacation rental redesign
Comments (5)HI Nancy, May I ask whereabouts is this property located? Reason being is that you'd want to keep the interiors in keeping with the location of the property. This post has been posted on the UK Houzz forum and this property doesn't look like it's in the UK! A few pointers also comes from the type of customers you receive in your property. You mentioned tourist attraction for beaches, hiking and wine tours. So there's a few things you could do. Create a beach/theme by adding softer white, sandy tones. Think painting the kitchen units white would definitely modernise it and make it look more fresh. I would also suggest if you are open to it changing the kitchen flooring, to something more modern (this could be a long term plan). The kitchen area with the mircowave could be improved, either by extending the existing units or replacing it with a wider one as it looks a bit empty. You could do with adding some soft furnishings like rugs and cushions, I would advise a lighter coloured rug as you have a lot of dark furniture at the moment. Window treatments could also do with a change and ones that fit. I think you would be better off with a roman blind in some of the rooms and allow the light to flood in. If that's not an option I would checkout shutters and have some curtains in keeping with your colour scheme. In terms of colour, I would actually steer away from beige! As you already have quite a lot of brown tones in the furniture. I would advise an off white colour to brighten and make it look fresh. Beige can feel quite dated and draining so I would be weary of using it in a rental property. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions. Comments (3)I would post more photos if you can. Colour is such a personal thing, fashion and trends can play a big part, and that is something that I personally find tricky. Teal in all its forms is very trendy at the moment and all over insta it is teamed with pink. I would try it with more neutral walls first as you can see from these images that the floor colour itself provides quite a contrast with the unit colour....See Moresuseyb
