front door internal colour

Interior door colour? We’ve removed the wall on the right so the door will be seen from the main corridor and reception room (Victorian terrace). Was thinking white is a bit boring and would be nice to make this a feature. Northwest facing. Wall colour will be paint & paper library slate 2 in corridor and hallway (but can change)! Help!

5 years agoThat’s some gorgeous stained glass:) I’d be tempted to pick out the pink from the edges so I say pink! Hard to find any images with the colour I had in mind but a think a deep rose/raspberry pink would look great. Other than that a very dark grey or navy.... which also looks fab with pink ;).

Comments (8)Thanks for all comments. I like PWJ architects idea, but think our space would not do that door justice. I love the bi-fold acoustic fabric panel and will investigate that further. I do want to replace the door with something as an add on porch, no matter how well insulated, will always allow a cold or hot bank of air coming into the hall....See MoreInternal door colour ?
Comments (7)A quick update after this weekends DIY :) I got a couple of doors completely sanded back and undercoated - used zinsser b.i.n (been recommended that by a painter - expensive, but holy schmoley, if you're looking for a good undercoat this is the baby). Picked up a tin of F&B 'worsted' and popped a couple of coats on. I just grabbed a small tin from HomeBase and if I'm being honest I didn't check the paint finish - ended up with 'Estate Eggshell' - I love the colour but I'm not keen on the finish, it's a bit to Matt for my liking I think. As the doors will be a 'statement' then I'm looking at something a lot more glossy - I may go modern eggshell. Comments (7)Solid oak tolerates temperature changes much better and better suits the front door. The front door is always exposed to moisture due to rain, snow, or fog. Also, the front door shouldn't fade over time due to direct sunlight falling on it in hot weather. I think it's much more profitable for you to take a solid oak door because it won't have to be changed after five years of use. We bought an oak door made of solid wood about ten years ago at https://www.ukoakdoors.co.uk/internal-oak-doors/four-panel-doors. I like that I don't see any cracks or wrinkles on this wooden door. My wife jokes that even my face is covered with wrinkles, despite the door has remained smooth and looks like a new one....See Moredrpinkie
