should I change custom built rosewood kitchen?!
Comments (12)Hello, we agree- this kitchen is rather dated, however there are some things you can try before completely stripping out- A client of ours had a similar kitchen in their new house; it was dark + dated, though the cupboards were in good condition. We lifted the space by changing the worktop to a much lighter granite and added metro tile splash back with grey grout. We also changed the appliances and lifted the cabinet over the new hob in order to fit a pull out extractor; and comply with modern building regulations. In your case I would suggest doing all these things- change appliances, instal a new tap/ sink, new lighter granite worktop (you could also try quartz but granite tends to be more timeless) and a lighter tiled splash back- you could use a herringbone pattern to divert interest from the cabinets. Also perhaps new handles will immediately update the look. You could also try a ceiling mounted extractor for the island. However if you do go for a new kitchen and can't sell the old- freecycle is a great way to get rid of the old cabinets in a sustainable way!...See Moreplanning new floor, should I change worktop?
Comments (2)I wouldn't change the worktop to white sparkle, it won't go with cream units. You could go with a grey tone to match the flooring and draw it all together. I think you may struggle with a grey tone that's going to work well with the units. Creams and beige's are hard to match with a grey. This is the quick step Livyn Canyon oak grey This is the same in Smoked Oak Lastly Black Oak, which suits the units a lot better and goes with the work top. It does have grey tones, but obviously retains the brown. You can then grey the walls which will bring it all together. I'd take a drawer front off or even a small cupboard door and then take it along to the flooring shops so that you can see what will go with the kitchen....See MoreShould I change or Should I Keep?
Comments (15)Looks really well Patrina, sometimes you can think something needs changed but in reality......as far as the radiator goes, I’ve painted mine with emulsion when I want it to blend in or wipeable satin or eggshell for wood or metalwork, I’ve been using crown paint lately and I’ve been very impressed! Their trade mix scrubbable paints are very good quality and a great range of colours in their charts...See MoreOld fashioned fitted wardrobes, what should I do with them ?
Comments (18)Hi, there’s no great need for backs and base on the wardrobe. My parents don’t have them it gives more space. Dividers you’ll get at a timber merchant. But if you prefer a proper base B&Q will cut wood to size or it could be better putting some cheap wood flooring in if easier to cut or a fresh piece of carpet. Otherwise I’d wash down the walls and a good hoover and you’re good to go. https://kitchenandbedroomdoors.co.uk does wardrobe doors. For a modern look I would recommend non-gloss/Matt white, pale grey or pale-caramel colours, plain or shaker style design doors, and either door types with no handles required(it won’t date), black handles or brass handles. Depends of course on your preference. I would advise getting someone to hang the doors otherwise you’ll be fixated on any slight imperfections! Personal experience 😉 If you want handles the right choice makes a huge difference and there are loads of cool places online. Check out other peoples wardrobes in Houzz for ideas. Have fun!...See Moremarylynnewolfe
