Where to buy the open shelves? Do they go on over or before the tile

Prior to tiling metal plates and rods were attached to the studs. After the tiles were in place the custom shelves were attached to the rods and fixed in place.

As a tile importer and retailer, it's very rare for a porcelain tile to crack if installed properly. I'd not recommend juggling your Le Creuset to test the theory though... More and more tilers are using a decoupling matting such as Durabase to take as much movement out of the tile as possible. We also supply flexible adhesive and grout, so with a properly flat floor, it's rare for us to get a call from a grumpy client. We supply a lot of large format "infinity" look tiles, where you have an identically sized anti-slip External version of the Interior tile. Most are 8-9mm, so need a concrete base that mirrors the internal floor. If there is a 20mm version, then a sand & cement base can be used. As for kitchens, always tile the entire floor before the kitchen goes in. This means that the kitchen installer has a blank canvas to work on. It also means that the floor is completely sealed, so the chances of liquid ingress under the tiles (under the units) is pretty much nil. Finally, it also means that if you have any white goods that fail under the work surface, they can just be slid out, rather than having to remove what could be long an heavy lump of marble or granite to get them out. thanks all! The vanity was made to measure. Just a wooden floating frame which we covered in tiles. Couldn't find a vanity to fit as this was less than 300 deep and about 1100 wide. The tiles we got from a company in Preston called ROCCIA www.roccia.com - they also have a place in Bolton but not sure if they deliver outside of the area. The tile was called Pantheon Marble (antique) by Cerim. Not found any other suppliers. Comes from Italy in all size formats. I got the 300 x 600 and they did them for about £45psqm. Similar ones we found from Mandarin stone were almost identical but didn't have quite as many streaks in. In fact I bought a full sized sample and had to use some of it for the skirting behind the WC and you can't really tell the difference at that angle. They are on sale now so a similar price (they were almost £60 psqm when i looked to buy them!) https://www.mandarinstone.com/product/mimica-sepia-grey-matt/ they are mostly grey but in some lights at a certain time of day, they can have just the very very slightest brown tinge but it's barely noticeable either.

Dear Ms England. Just saw the layout of your kitchen. It's up to you as to whether you want to have an integrated Fridge / Freezer [ 50 / 50 or 70 /30 ] unit or a free standing one. I personally think that you should lay out your kitchen as follows : You start from the steps going down with the Fridge / Freezer unit, whether free standing or integrated unit, then the oven and Microwave tall unit, then work top, then the hob [ allow for a 600 mm 5 rings burners, then equal work top, then the sink with drainer. It is better for the sink to be over looking the garden. You should also change the toilet to fixed to the external wall and the wash-hand basin and cabinet to be fixed to the wall between the toilet and store. iIf possible you should go for a 3 panel bi-folding doors rather that sliding doors. It's worth to incorporate a 1340 x 1380 mm Velux Integra Electric window over the Dining area which will bring more lifgt to the Living Room beyond, I assumed. You can reduce the floor to ceiling height of the kitchen to 2400mm or 2600 mm and it will save you on the cost of your kitchen unit. otherwise you will need a step ladder to get to the top shelves of the cupboards above the work top. For the kitchen worktop, you can use quartz or granite as solid hardwood get affected by water stains over time and need to be sanded down and sealed at regular interval.
