Need help painting MDF bedroom wardrobes
Comments (11)We've just had new sliding sash windows put in and our bedroom ones have arched tops. The fitter routed MDF to fit around the windows and then edged in wood. I have used Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat. Sanded down before starting and in-between coats. So far I have applied 2 coats applied with synthetic bristle brushes from Screwfix and the finish looks almost complete. I think i will apply 2 top coats of Leyland Trade Acrylic Eggshell. Both of these paints are water based so dry quickly and easy to clean the brushes afterwards. This is the first time I have painted MDF and so far I am really pleased. You must wear a mask when you sand the MDF and hoover the dust from all the surfaces before painting. Hope this helps and good luck on Monday. http://www.leylandtrade.com/products/product-detail/acrylic-primer-undercoat.aspx http://www.leylandtrade.com/products/product-detail/acrylic-eggshell.aspx...See MoreMain bedroom dilemma: Bedroom layout, walk in wardrobe(?)
Comments (9)Just a thought, what about putting the bed against the wall of the walk in wardrobe and you can still have your headboard, no need to change or move a radiator and the wife's side of the bed would be next to the wardrobe entrance. It's all a bit cramped by the looks of things and while you'll have your ensuite and your walkin wardrobe you'll still be walking into a box room. Another thought I had to to lose the bedside cabinets and increase the appearance of space would be in to have the bed side lights on the partition wall and the storage built into the stud wall with pull out shelves for those breakfast in bed moments and cups of tea. Change the door to open onto your landing as well!!! Good luck...See MoreDesign Dilemma - bedrooms in our bedroom

Comments (8)Hello, What a light and spacious bedroom! I have to agree with Nicola and think you should consider putting the wardrobes somewhere else, such as the wall on the left hand side as you walk in which would work well. If you can move the door a bit more to the right that would be great so then the wardrobes can fit right up to the wall. It is likely though this will not be very straightforward to do so you could centralise the wardrobes to that wall as you will not be able to fit the wardrobes right up to the opposite wall anyway because of the window. Then you could put a dressing table at the side near the window. The alcoves either side of the chimney breast are quite narrow so you will not get much storage in these spaces anyway and I know like you say the depth is an issue. So I would look at putting chest of drawers in the alcoves as they would fit in well. Hannah...See Moreiyanini14
