Best way to decorate the bedroom?
Comments (2)Hi Harry. I agree with secret linen store. The photos in your idea book are mainly neutral so if you don't like colour then look at adding different shades of your neutral/s and mix different textures and patterns for cushions and throw. Statement lights be it pendant or table lamp would add interest. Also look at adding the largest mirror you can fit, it will make the room feel a lot bigger. Plants and/or faux stems such as eucalyptus will give it some life. You could also look a feature wall, maybe a textured wallpaper or a pattern if you prefer. A pic would be good for more ideas!...See MoreHelp needed to change flat layout & create 3rd bedroom
Comments (14)Hi again Jane. Any external changes, including windows, may require planning permission. If the property is a block of flats or mansion block this may be more of a challenge. You may have permitted development rights, which can be another good option. Any change, however small, is likely to be subject to a license to alter especially if there's a management company or a remote freeholder. This includes windows in any shape or form. As unreasonable as it may appear, The licensee / freeholder can quite legitimately sell you the space and the roof structure and then request a full license to alter application. It's also not a given that the you be awarded the license. Sorry if this comes across all doom and gloom. There usually ways design challenges. understanding all the risks as well as the potential is important....See MoreMore smaller bedroom or less bigger bedrooms
Comments (11)So a dormer loft conversion costs the same as a side extension? It sounds like you'll be getting more space for the side extension for the same amount of money then. Have you had a look at other bungalows down your road or area that have had extensions vs no extensions and see what they have sold for, then you can see if it's worth it but who knows what the market will be like in a couple of years time. In terms of appealing to more when selling, people probably would prefer bedrooms upstairs but if bedrooms are larger and downstairs is huge it will be more attractive to buyers ( I think ) especially if there is a large family. Lots of new builds have a bedroom downstairs so it's not unusual plus families considering a bungalow won't be looking for the norm in terms of layout so 2 bedrooms downstairs is fine. You can also ask your estate agent that sold you the bungalow, get their thoughts on what is attractive to buyers, I'm sure they'll be helpful in case you'll use them in the future :-)....See MoreHow do I get an extra bedroom????
Comments (5)Hi abby151, I have exactly the same upstairs layout to yours (albeit a mirror image and the chimney breast in bedroom 1 backing onto the bathroom) and I'm trying to figure out how to get a 4th bedroom too! Looking to do a 1.5 extension so 4th bedroom would be in roof with pretty dormer windows, my only answer so far is to reduce the size of the main bathroom making it narrow and without a window to get the landing and entrance into the new bedroom, but I think the bathroom will be a bit claustrophobic with no window. Sorry can't be of any useful help, just amazed someone has the same house layout and the same dilemma as me!!...See MoreJonathan
