the ceiling height of our converted loft

we live in the semi detached house and just noticed that the ceiling height of our neighbors loft is at least 15cm higher than ours. Also, our ceiling height seems to be lower than the original architect's plan. any idea what went wrong and would it be possible to fix it? our current ceiling height is a bit short of 2m and 15, even 10cm more would make a big difference.

You do have to build a whole new roof (depending on size and complexity may be £40k including tiling). However if you increase the square footage of a £400k house by 20% you could add up to £80 k to the value and it could still be cheaper than moving. https://www.homebuilding.co.uk/roof-cost-guide/ The benefit of putting on a new roof is that you can specify attic trusses- this means that you have the required space and strength to put a room up stairs. Alot of the cost of loft conversions is creating the space and strengthening the joists to take a habitable room.

Hi. What a gorgeous house :) Given you are starting from scratch, have you considered hiring an interior designer? Preferably one whom passes on their trade discounts which will negate the design fees :) if not, i assume you're after a modern country style? What colours do you like? Do you have a photo of the table and chairs? I can't see any rattan chairs if I'm on the right website :) Also what kind of budget do you have for furnishing the 3 rooms? Do you have a photo of the main bedroom and do you have a floor plan with measurements? The kitchen is beautiful. It doesn't look dark in the photos, I would personally live with it for a few months and see how you feel. If it is dark, it may be the worktop. What's behind the range oven? Maybe you could have an antiqued mirror splashback to bounce some light? Do you also know the head height over the island as the ceiling there looks a little low for pendants but it may be the photo

Something like this but not sure of room dimensions (clearly not as many beds as pictured (!) and i think keeping the ”bed” in the wall colour helps the room feel bigger as in the 2nd pic)
