Odd kitchen shape. In need of design/layout ideas, thanks!
Comments (3)Does your storage cupboard need to be in that position? Just thinking that if you could shunt your cloakroom along into it then you could access your laundry from the back wall of the loo. Hope you see what I mean. Then, if you lengthen the laundry into the kitchen space a bit you would be able to have a run of cupboards/units/equipment on the left too. Then you shorten that narrow utility wall on the kitchen side by having a run of cupboards/larder or what you will on that side too. Might give you a more practical use of space in the kitchen....See MoreNo idea on how to furnish our living room! Help on layout needed :)
Comments (10)In some ways it’s good to have such a large TV. Let’s face it you are sitting a very long way from it in your lovely big room! You are wondering how to make the door end of the room look used. I think we are talking trade offs with the design here, in terms of cost and layout. If you can spend a bit of money it might be worth investigating how to design a new fireplace that incorporates the TV. Sounds horrendous I know, but because you have a large tv it might work, though you’d have to be VERY careful about balance in the positioning and get specialist advice on insulating the tv from the heat from the fire. You also need to consider how much time you spend watching tv and if the upwards angle of view might give you a stiff neck from where you place the sofa...BUT... this would enable you to bring Carolina’s room layout back towards the door, making the room look more occupied, you could then also use celery girls idea to put a sort of separate more intimate seating area in the bay window - two statement chairs and a little table, maybe flanked by a pair of enormous table lamps in front of the curtains to fill the corners and highlight the curtains at night....See MoreFurniture layout help in odd-shaped rooms. Comments (7)Some great comments so thanks guys. I adore hanging plants so I'll make sure to put a few in the kitchen, especially around the door. I plan on having wall shelves with plants on, too. I think the outdoor mirror seems like a great idea, we can reflect the neighbours plants from their garden (well, hopefully, funny angled wall outside)! We've put a long table in the kitchen so far, with a bench on one side and four chairs on the other (against the wall). This allows the light from the doors to run down the table. Surprisingly the flat is very bright despite fewer windows and the lower floor being lower-ground almost basement. I think I'll keep the bedroom downstairs for now as it's not a room I spend a lot of time in. For me the bedroom is purely a sleeping zone....See MoreLayout ideas for 12yr old bedroom. Odd shape
Comments (9)I would also put the "wardrobe" there. You can still use the rail and at that height it should be long enough for most clothes but either close it off with a door or a curtain (the curtain will make it feel more spacious if she's does happen to be tidy so can keep it part open! I would also put the bed along the length of the 244 wall. I'd go for a daybed with trundle so she has seating for friends, this one is quite good as you can still see a bit of the floor beneath. desk under window with chest of drawers on opposite wall with a mirror over the top. If you want the room to feel bigger, don't choose furniture which has a lot of contrast to the walls. A ghost chair may be good for the desk...See MoreCarolina
