This room is too dark
Comments (8)I agree with Jonathan re an oversized mirror. You could try one behind the sofa, it will also make the room feel wider. The walls already look a warm shade but you could go lighter. Have a look at those with yellow or red undertones. http://www.farrow-ball.com/neutral-groups/content/fcp-content alternatively dulux do a light and space paint that you could try. I think the room may be better balanced keeping the window. A Roman blind hung outside of the recess shouldn't reduce any light, keep the blind similar to the wall colour. I might put the TV over the fire to free up space depending on its size. Maybe add something to the mantle to detract from the TV. I would also add a glass coffee table to bring furniture into the middle of the room. I'd get a rug similar in colour to the floor. If your sofas are dark then lighten with cushions and a throw....See MoreI’ve had my kitchen decorated this way for 3 years but it’s too dark
Comments (16)Your kitchen is gorgeous! Ours is similar in layout and darkness. We went with f&b Dimpse for the cabinets as it’s very light. I’d love a lighter worktop too but can’t justify replacing perfectly good granite. Likewise we have dark flooring (slate) - I’d love a parquet floor but again can’t justify scrapping something that is perfectly ok. We’ve painted our walls pure white and it’s fab. (And cheap). Photo not the best as it was taken at night - however the wall and cabinet colours have most definitely lightened up the whole room....See MoreDark Navy Living Room - Sofa???
Comments (7)Generally they say if you've got dark walls to go with a lighter sofa. Whites are good but not practical so grey is always a safe option. Looking at the inspiration images some others are posting on this thread, grey really seems to pop. Maybe something with a traditional shape like these two from abreo.co.uk?...See MoreBedroom help- too small to go to the dark side?!
