Upstairs Utility/Laundry
Comments (3)Yes . I have one. Easy for ironing sorting etc. my only regret us mine isn't big enough and also if you don't want to use a tumble dryer the whole time you will have to carry laundry into garden or have a drying rack system . It's so lovely having our down stair utility free of clothes washing etc. we also had extra insulation installed for sound proofing especially if you wash late in evenings...See MoreDesign of utility area
Comments (9)An electric towel radiator would be a great option for drying clothes. I would recommend going with something with plenty of surface area to increase drying space and heat output. It might be easier to dry clothes on a wide and lower design model like our Shorty model (as pictured), rather than a tall thin one (especially if you are trying to get the kids to help!). All of our ladder-style towel radiators are available in electric versions. I would also recommend a ceiling suspended clothes airer or "creel" as we call them in Yorkshire. We have one at home and it is invaluable in the winter....See MoreUtility versus Dining Room?
Comments (6)The kitchen extension on the back was already done when we bought the house some years back. There has never been a utility room, the current washing machine and dryer are in our kitchen which drives me nuts (noise etc). The living room has an opening onto the dining room that is slightly bigger than two double doors wide (though we have no doors to close the opening). We did think about having two seperate rooms but felt that either a big living space ie a joined up living room and dining room or a medium space ie sitting room with half a dining room and a separate utility would be better than two smaller rooms......See Moreexternal door with ventilation for utility / dog room door
Comments (2)Hi. Do you need to access it from the outside? We have done many tilt and turn windows in this type of situation. So you can put it into tilt function for the ventilation needs, but you can open it up fully for access etc. You just can't open from the outside....See MoreSonia
