Need advice for my hall & stairs! Please :)
Comments (21)A vertical column radiator would indeed be a good option, and I like the anthracite idea. Alternatively, if you could find a traditional tall victorian radiator (may not be easy to source) and finish it in a bronze/verdigris, it could work really well with your dark mint and would be a real statement! Your staircase is lovely, and I would go with a contemporary striped runner, white painted sides and a simple rod....See Morehallway advice please moving the showing door towards the stairs .
Comments (5)Hi, You could alter the mid landing to have a kite in each corner and a step in the middle, \I/ something like that. Then you would loose three steps from the upper flight meaning you can move the door three steps further over. Its a lot of work though just to move a door and you would still have smells from the bathroom. Could the bathroom extract fan be upgraded to improve on the ventilation?...See MoreAdvice on how to design my openplan hallway!
Comments (9)Hello Tara. This is fantastic space for an entrance hall and you have already made a good start with the panelling and colour scheme. The area in-front of the fireplace would make a lovely reading space. As you already have 2 other separate living areas then I do not feel it is necessary to have such a big sofa in here. I would consider putting in 2 armchairs with a coffee table opposite the fireplace and by doing so it will still zone off this area from the hallway. I would then look at putting in a round table in the hallway area (the space can certainly take it) to really give you a 'wow' when you walk in and it will really help the space to flow as it looks like you can either walk in and straight up to the stairs, through to the rooms at the back or in to the reading area. I have attached a few inspo images below to give you an idea what I mean :)...See Morehallway panelling advice - paint or not?
Comments (11)Thanks so much to you all for taking the time to make comments. It seems unanimous that we should keep the panelling! I’m leaning toward painting it (partly because I think it’ll be less work than stripping it!) and I really like some of the colour suggestions, I’ll order some paint samples! My picture shows the brightest part of the hallway and makes the panelling look paler than it is near the stairs, the panelling is actually all dark like at the back of the photo. Away from the door the hallway is quite dark so I’m not sure whether dark colours will be too much, I’ll see what I think when the samples arrive....See MoreJonathan
