Advice on how to design my openplan hallway!

I would really appreciate some help with my opeplan hallway. this room has driven
This room has driven me crazy for years! I have recently installed panelling and it’s ready to paint. I plan to paint the stairs white and a grey stair runner. Wals will be light grey and panelling white.
I have struggled For years on how to deisgn the open plan area in from of the fireplace. I had a L shaped couch there for a few years and I liked the fact that the back of the couch created a divide between the hallway and living space.
Any advice or Thoughts are welcome!!!

One of my favourite hall transformations on Houzz was this one: [From dodgy pink to elegant grey[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/from-dodgey-pink-to-elegant-greys-dsvw-vd~2942113) If I was lucky enough to have a hallway like yours, I'd be getting a skip for the dado rail and wallpaper (as already suggested). The dark brown carpet would also go in. I'd then be wanting to use white emulsion on the doors and walls. 3 years agoHello Tara. This is fantastic space for an entrance hall and you have already made a good start with the panelling and colour scheme. The area in-front of the fireplace would make a lovely reading space. As you already have 2 other separate living areas then I do not feel it is necessary to have such a big sofa in here. I would consider putting in 2 armchairs with a coffee table opposite the fireplace and by doing so it will still zone off this area from the hallway.
I would then look at putting in a round table in the hallway area (the space can certainly take it) to really give you a 'wow' when you walk in and it will really help the space to flow as it looks like you can either walk in and straight up to the stairs, through to the rooms at the back or in to the reading area.
