The exterior paint is Benjamin Moore "Dragons Breath".

Hi, Taking into consideration all the elements in your room I would advise you to go with the lighter, golden-toned wood flooring option. Bear in mind wood is a light reflecting finish (as opposed to a carpet in an equivalent tone which is more light absorbing) so will create a more spacious feel to the room. Furthermore the lovely varied tones and graining in the samples you have allow for it to blend subtly with your table and chairs. In contrast a straight cut plank with more even tones would results in a clash of woods as you mentioned. The doors are indeed very yellow in tone; ideally if you could, I would advise changing the stain colour - if they are hardwood strip them back and apply a clear varnish or wax . If they are laminate or veneered they unfortunately can't be stripped back but you could paint them a neutral paint colour to break them from the other wood in the room and allow them to blend better with the wall paint colour. Regarding the wall paint colour, if you do go ahead with the blonder toned wood flooring you could take a small step away from warm yellow based neutrals to a cooler grey or green based neutral paint colour to introduce a subtle contrast on the wall surfaces. A subtle "hint" staying in the neutral range, not a definitive grey or green! I would advise avoiding any neutral with a pink or yellow based tint due to there being a lot of warm tones already in the room - in the floor, the dining table the chairs and the sofa fabric.

Sikkens , Owatrol or Ronseal all make excellent products for decking, there are plenty of colours to choose from to compliment your conservatory. Personally, if the deck is one of the good hardwoods, Balau, Ipe, Iroko or Elondo I prefer an oil such as Liberon but oil may need to be reapplied more often.

Thank you everyone, lots of food for thought @honeypoppet - I never knew this design technique existed, I’m worried it would look a bit too funky for my simple house and I think the radiator would get in the way of the beautiful ombré effect @yasminchopin - I never thought to use a piece of art, I thought to put up pictures but actually the art would bring the colours together. The radiator issue, and now that you’ve mentioned it, it really does stick out like a sore thumb but I could almost see past it with the wall half painted. And the more I stare at it the more it does seem to take away from the balance of the wall even with something hung above it @minnie & grouse - I never thought of that, it would have been a great idea! we’ve just repainted the bannisters from a dark mahogany stained colour to all white, I didn’t think to change the handrails, I might have to see how far time and budget allow as the carpets are going in next week As the walls are half painted I might complete it in a colour just to get a full visual and appease my soul that I took the right decision! then finally decide either way, but please do keep any last minute ideas coming, I’m certainly learning a thing or two along the way

Thanks both, this is really helpful. I’ll post some more pictures in a mo. I’m keen to explore painting the horizontal slats in different shades of stain - maybe you used Cuprinol which seems to be very popular? The builder who is doing the work suggested this as an option and the using a rag to rub over it...but that sounds frightening..... Its a very contemporary modern finish/look that I’m after and we have had the backs of each slat protected with a dark coloured creosote and then the front slats have had a clear Cuprinol put on. It’s just the colour of the stain that we choose that is now bothering me. Can I ask you to shed some more info on staining each slats in a different colour of stain? Thank you in advance. We also have to stain the pergola too....and we’re thinking along the lines of a wenge/black colour?
