Living room accessories: wall art, rug and cushions
Comments (11)Hello Claudia, Speaking from an art on walls point of view, I'm loving the challenge, so I present a few choice pieces for the wall above your two armchairs that I think will be a happy compliment to your existing decor and furnishings: As regards the picture above your piano, the colours work well with your room but you don't like the subject, right? If that's the case, this consideration will have to be a decision based on what subject(s) you really like or are quite sentimental to, as opposed to colour matching an art piece just to fit in with the rest of the room. If you do play the piano, musicians are very sentimental people, so you want something above the piano that you can "feel and connect to" when you're sitting there playing. It has to be sentimental to you, irrespective of what it is and what colour it may be, and not to consider it as part of the rooms overall decor. If there is anything I can be of further help with, feel free to contact me through my Houzz profile or website: http://thejonescollection.gallery All the best with whatever you decide to choose for your wall spaces....See Moreliving room rug dilemma :-/
Comments (30)Lol! It is hard to make a decison. I would just check the return policy of every company especially the postage. If you're unsure it may be better using a high street shop so you can just return in person. I'm a bit 50/50 on the rug size. I would typically go for front feet on but if you look back at your photos (and stick your fingers over the missing half of the rug when it's widthways!) it only seems to make a small difference in this instance but that could be the camera angle. A rug that doesn't contrast hugely with your floor should help with feeling of space. Oh bless her, wood floors are great for kids but not when they fall...See MoreCurtain dilemma - new home
Comments (8)The door and windows are quite dark, could you paint them? Using white curtain poles is an option? If you mount the poles are high up as you can and as wide as you can it will make the windows seem larger and will stop light being cut out by curtain overlap. You could treat the window and door as one treatment with full length curtains covering both, almost covering the whole wall....See Morerug / cushions ideas please
Comments (7)Hello Kimmyrb. Bravo on your impulse buy... it's a beautiful piece. I don't think you need much. The sofa should be the star. Maybe a rug (some pattern in it to break up the block colours) and some cushions (same...and to tie in the blue pouffe and your wall which has hints of green) but not much else. If you also change curtains, you risk making it look too done/match-y methinks. Re cushions/ rug...look online at House of Hackney for patterned textiles....See MoreSonia
