blanket ladder suggestion

I have 8ft ceilings in living room. I want to put a blanket ladder against a wall but they are not tall enough, most are 6 ft. I cannot find a 7 ft. Ladder I like. Question is...if I use a 6 ft ladder what do I do with the 2 ft above the ladder it looks so bare .

Is this what you are wanting? I don't think you need anything above the ladder at all.

Depending on your construction abilities.. You could fashion a custom ladder with materials from a local Hardware or Big Box Store. Then there is no limitation on the height and design style.

Constructed as shown (w/dowels and finish grade pine) or an overlap design (w/flat pine affixed to front side of ladder surface and finish grade pine)

Hi, I am renovating an 1850s house with 9ft ceilings and have been through the same problem (I am 5ft 2). I ended up buying a garden tower, daft as it sounds, and it has been the best purchase ever. I feel completely safe and it has allowed me to do some really long laborious tasks such as repairing lath and plaster ceilings and restoring cornice in comfort. It has wheels on one end so you can move it around the room easily and you can cover a bigger area than a ladder without moving it along. It dismantles really easily and doesn't take up much space either. I really wanted it splitting so that the brickwork would be revealed, but removing the existing paintwork would have damaged the bricks so we had the whole front done instead. I'm really pleased with it though. Next job job will be the driveway. I'm still debating between fencing or railings. Had a few ideas re fencing but can't decide whether these ideas would suit the house. Maybe we should just stick with railings. Monica Gale 20:28 Prav I think the reason for that is that its all you are looking at right now. You need some height on those tables and a few other things, then it could all fall into place. My only thought regarding the tables being orange is longevity. If you keep them fairly neutral you can change the colour in the future a lot easier. Here's a poor shot of my living room. That dark cabinet grounds the space beautifully. It works really well to have bit of black in every scheme. Try it first then if you still do not like it then I guess you could paint them.

I’m not sure you will find a woollen fabric cheaply. A woollen blanket alone can cost around £50+. May be worth looking at the online fabric shop Fashion Interiors - I’ve used them and they have a huge range of fabrics. The Scion fabric I ordered was beautiful and came on a roll, so less creasing. Laura Ashley still do wool curtain fabrics so may be also worth a look too. You just have good taste!

Agree with @IdaClaire. If the blankets are pretty enough, your eye will be drawn to them, not the space above. A taller ladder might actually draw your eye upwards and make your ceilings feel lower than they actually are.

That is just 6 pieces of wood--not hard to make one at all.
