Stone fireplace/chimney breast in new-build house

I am currently working on a new-build contemporary barn style house.

I'm looking at including a stone fireplace/chimney. It would house a stove, so only needs to be for aesthetics.

I've attached a few pictures of what I'm imagining.

Can anyone help me find people who supply these or if there is ever genuine stone fireplaces that have been removed from old houses and could be reused

Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I would love to see the end result if you do have any pictures.. My room has no real wall to put bed against.. one alcove is 100cm.. the other 120cm however it slopes where roof is, the goes into a large L or maybe even a L and another backwards L.. Did you just get the bedroom chimney breast taken out and/pr downstairs too?

Hello, It seems to me that the chimney sticks out about 350 - 400mm into the room. That's a lot of potential space. The TV is probably 50mm deep. That leaves 300mm of space doing what? I would suggest removing the chimney breast completely throughout the house. This should not cost more than about £5,000. Then I would build a bit of stud for the TV and any other elements I wanted and gain additional space on the ground floor and first floor. If you remove the chimney on the ground floor get an engineer to design a suitable support and remember any structural supports have to be signed off by building control.

Good Morning Scotto, I am a strong believer in trying to work with the original character of the building. It may take a few more ideas and a bit of innovation. In design it is really helpful to sketch out all ideas and keep thinking of more when you think you are done. Then you can narrow these down. If the chimney is still to be taken down (which is likely to be structural), some log burners can be taken out through walls rather than chimneys depending on the possibilities externally and neighbours etc. Builders and planning departments will advise. If you like the built in stove look, a new built in wall could be created rather than having to utilise the old chimney. Happy to help, please visit my site. Hi, I know it’s not what you specifically asked (plus really not the best person at layouts 😊 ) but I’m just wondering if the general layout is set in stone? Most people would prefer an open plan kitchen/living at the back with access to the garden etc. It also seems a bit tricky accessing the utility and office. in terms of alternative plans if you do go this route, try OnePlan on here. This one is asking about stone and you are trying to flog a bit of metal. Was your marketing brief..."how to alienate potential customers and drive them away"?
