Indoor built in Fire, Gas or Wood

Would be glad of some recommendations for which sort of fire would be the best to put into existing house
Will be built in.
Room is the living area which is a very large room.
Like open wood fire, but is this a messy option. Will dust particles settle throught the house.
Which heats up a room quicker, gas wood.
We have built in natural gas and wood is not a problem to source.
We want something that will give warmth and the cosy atmosphere.

similar prices to buy and install but unless you have access to free wood, gas is cheaper and much cleaner and easier to manage and, although a wood fire is very romantic and not subject to the usual black outs and there's a loss of heat with open fires and the exposed glass doors with gas heaters ..check gas heaters with power flues that make location of the heater much easier as the flues can be underfloor, sideways or through the roof space but don't need to be in a straight line to function safely.

A gas heater will produce heat pretty much as soon as you turn it on. A wood fire takes longer to get established.
If this is just for the occasional fire and not your main source of heating then it’s really just personal preference. If it’s your main source of heating then I’d really think about the work, inconvenience and cost involved in wood heating. I’d also suggest NOT getting an open wood fire. A built in wood heater/slow combustion heater will be much more efficient and less smoke in the home. If there is anyone living in the house who has a respiratory condition such as asthma or emphysema then wood heating is a poor choice.

Good luck! Downstairs loos aren't very exciting. I would probably go for farrow and ball Hague blue all over as pictured and then add prints on the walls. My loo is very dark grey with lots of these animal prints. I think they were a fiver from achica and then black frames off of ebay for £2.50 or something.obviously you don't need to go for this style but maybe something a little quirky to add interest. I'd go for mid or dark grey in the bathroom with a lighter or off white wall but it depends on how dark you want to go. Darker can often look more expensive but mid grey with white walls will also look good.

I see, not an easy one. The first thing is to establish what is behind and how the original fireplace looks like. You may try to have a peak behind or just ask neighbours how theirs look like and whether it is the original. If you like it and it has been covered by the previous owners, you can just renovate it. Otherwise you can get the marble, it looks quite neutral and just rearrange around. I would recommend that you do not rush it. So discuss with your builders how the floor can be laid down and still accommodating for further adjustment later.

It is also worth noting that gas fireplaces are typically safer as there is no possibility of a hot ember rolling out of the fire. It sounds like the building already has gas and you are more interested in heating up the room quick - It sounds like a no brainier to go with gas in this case,
