Which colour cladding should I go for?
I’m currently replacing my cladding as we are extending and am really struggling to choose a colour. I’m going to use cement board and have been considering whether to stay the same dark brown or go lighter towards the taupe or lighter colours. Roof tiles are brown, windows are white and haven’t yet chosen a colour for the front door. We are surrounded by woodland and the few houses that are cladded are dark. The remainder are rendered which dark shutters. Photos show existing and proposed.

Comments (18)I have to say, I'm leaning towards option 1. As I may have mentioned in the past, I suspect the trend for grey and anthracite windows/doors/sofitts etc will end sooner or later and what folks will find is they're left with external features that date a house but would be expensive to fix. Comments (3)Is the tile on the right a deep green? I would look at something taupe (which means it has a red/violet bias) along the Iines of Skimming Stone or Elephants Breath (Farrow and Ball). These colours seem to complement deep greens whereas anything with a yellow tinge could look a bit sickly. Also worth looking at Little Greene Slate which comes in oil based paint. Comments (4)Jali is an online company that’s been going for years - they do various made to measure covers. https://www.jali.co.uk/product/radiator-covers Radiator covers aren’t always cheap (unless you find a fab carpenter as Daisy suggested) - so another option would be to replace the rads with traditional column versions - you can get some amazing ones!!...See More

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoIt’s a good idea to match the front door to the wood cladding. Can you extend the wood all the way to the bottom if the house on the extension and paint the rest of the bottom of the house white to go with the garage door and windows.
