What floor covering for a concrete ramp, or replace it with steps?

Between the kitchen and utility room (which is built inside the barn) is a ramped corridor, about 3m long and 60cm high. It's currently concrete, but we are renovating the house and putting travertine in both the kitchen and utility. I am at a loss to know what to do with the ramp - should we just bite the bullet - put steps in, and tile the corridor? Any other non-slip flooring suggestions for a ramp would be welcome!
