Paint colour ideas needed for study without any natural light
Comments (16)Another update - I managed to get it painted by the time hubby got home, but haven't put anything back yet. He was really chuffed. Thanks for all the suggestions and help so far. I decided to go with white. The grey colours just seemed to suck away the light when on the wall and I felt I either had to embrace the darkness or go whiteish. Decided to slow down and take my time choosing by chair and accessories, but will hopefully have another update once we've got stuff back in and bought some bits and bobs.Thinking of shades of green if there are any more suggestions. Also going to see if our local handyman / carpenter can quote for some shelves / doors to hide some of the clutter we will inevitably have to put back. Also hunting for a table lamp, magazine files / storage boxes, maybe some fake plants (no light!) and something to put the phone on or next to that will hide all those wires....See MoreAny ideas/suggestions on what colour I should paint my kitchen
Comments (11)We also have a north east facing kitchen, we used farrow and balls, Purbeck stone on our wall of units at the back of the kitchen (its warmer than using grey which can look cold in a north facing room), pelt on our peninsula and dimity on the walls, it give off pink hues during the day and is (nice) sort of creamy beige in the evening / on dull days. We took samples of our flooring and work top to a F&B shop/consultant and they were really helpful in confirming that the colours we wanted would work in our N/E facing room. I was pretty fixed on the the purbeck stone and pelt and it was they that suggested using dimity on the walls. Also as already suggested, tester pots and paint on large pieces of paper that you can move around the room is a good idea....See MoreHelp please in creating definition and interest in our stairs and lan
Comments (10)Minnie, thanks so much- I think that's a great idea re wallpapering the stairwall. Am going to look into pricing that. Also love the console table with books on bottom. My husband loves the ceiling to floor window in landing, so, although I loved your idea re upholstered bench, he unfortunately is adamant he doesn't want anything there! Misha, thank you so much for all your lovely ideas .. That idea re the tree mural is very interesting- could you recommend anywhere I could get a nice one like the one in your picture? It's also a more budget friendly option, if it comes to it.... Re colour schemes, I was thinking of a dash of anything warm, i.e. Reds/ greens/ warm neutrals, and I would tend to veer away from blues and yellows personally... I need also to figure out which would be best in terms of our picture display, as, unlike your photo, they are all of different sizes and frames!!...See MoreHallway ideas - what colour paint?
Comments (5)What about a nice warm truffle shade from Dulux? They have various options from Soft Truffle through to darker Intense Truffle. Their Easycare paint is supposed to be washable although I’ve never used it....See Moregemm_thomas
