does this mirror require a separate wall switch?

I have a junction box to plug it into. Just need to know if you can turn the power on the mirror or if you have to install a wall switch?

Typically they need a wall switch or dimmer. Be sure you get the specs on it to make sure that you get the proper dimmer type required. There are some available that work with a remote control. These can offer tunable white lighting which is the most current technology

It will come with a plug.

Plug-in and hardwired to wall switch both is OK.

If you don't want to use the plug, cut the plug and connect it to the wall switch.

I don't mind the current colours although a greys and beiges tend to suck light out of a room, a brighter colour rather than just white will help. I agree with much of what Jill says above, with a few tweaks ... the lighting needs attention. The room needs some interest, colour and texture to create depth. Get a larger rug, more colourful, with organic pattern which draws the eye outward. Big enough to sit the furniture on. Pick up some of the colours from the new rug and get some cushions. A couple of plants would help with texture and add life to the room. I know you are using the mirrors to add light and space but the one under the stairs is just reflecting the underneath of the stairs ... try a colourful print of a pathway between trees for example, to draw the eye beyond the room otherwise it's a bit bland. The TV is just on a stand that is too small and a bit low, go for a wider piece or try positioning the unit against the other wall in that same corner so it is facing the sofas, then the TV won't look so out of balance. If you make the room a bit livelier and interesting the light issue won't be such a problem. Consider pale turquoise walls for example rather than just white and add some artwork.

I forgot to mention in my comment that my great uncle was a cabinet maker and came up with a clever solution in his lounger diner. There was a large painting on the wall, Monarch of the glen, if memory serves, with a deep frame. When you looked closely there was a piano hinge on the bottom of the frame. When a catch was released at the top, the painting tilted forward to form a dining table. There were slots at the end for legs to attach and it was big enough to seat six. Behind the painting was a mirror which made the room seem bigger. Admittedly their lounge diner was small, but I always thought it was a clever and attractive way to have a dining table, but only when you needed it. Alas, I have no pictures and Uncle Hugh is no longer with us.

So you know I bought a single 'click deco' brand dolly light switch a while back and found it to be pretty poor quality so it was returned. Ended up with these: http://www.forbesandlomax.com/the-unlacquered-brass-range.html Really good quality and they have lovely finishes too. I quite like their antique bronze range too as it contrasts nicely with chrome/nickel finishes without clashing. If you'd really like everything to match then take a look at the Jim Lawrence range. They're not the cheapest but offer both light switches and door furniture in a large selection of finishes. Hi! I think you've got a really good starting point for a sophisticated modern look here, however I'd definitely say things feel a bit washed out looking at the images you've posted. I'd probably start off by adding a few layers of texture to the space, whether that be through throws, or maybe some extra cushions across the sofa. A splash of colour on the curtains could also make a big difference, giving a vibrant pop to the space. If you'd be willing to go a little bolder, a statement lamp might be able to revamp the room, giving a unique focal point to the decor for an unusual, personalised style! do these ever turn off if you don't use a wall switch? I see the dimmer on the mirror but I can't figure out how to actually turn it off completely

Hi, there are many sizes of these mirror, pls notice that 1 button mirror and right button mirror have both turn on/off and dimmer functions.

2 buttons mirror must connect wall switch or use a plug converter.

does this mirror require a separate wall switch?
