need advice on colour palette Huge Living Room!

Hi our new living room which will be the more formal reception area is 6 metres by 7metres wide with floor to ceiling sliding doors on one end.
The flooring is large light brown tiles (light bone shade with minimal pattern)

We are struggling for colours for this room as it gets a lot of light so we think it can take a bold colour but want to keep it sophisticated without being boring.

We will have to buy new furniture in the future so that would not be a hindrance to colour selection.

Perhaps you could post some pictures of the room to give a better Idea of the space. You definately will get more informed advice if Houzzers can sè the space.

I would personally go for an off-white to keep it light and bright and to create a blank canvas for your new furniture. Furniture, a large rug, art, some wooden furniture pieces maybe, and plants will make it interesting and you can choose any colour you like for that then.

Do you have a pic? It sounds great mixed with the stone, is this on all walls? Maybe try a stone rug with a little of the burgundy in a pattern to lighten the floor. What colour are the curtains?

I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! It’s great to see ideas, thank you. I don’t know whether the warmer images are “me” and in fact whether this whole room is “me” - I think I’m fighting against what I like with what I have and it’s why I can’t decide on anything / it’s all becoming a bit mismatched! I really just wish I’d stayed with really paler walls and white furniture like the rest of the house... which is all a bit more like this kind of style - it feels so much lighter and brighter ;

I think you need to buy one of the expensive additions and then use that as colour inspiration- so buy curtains or a sofa or a rug or statement art or wall paper and use that as a starting point

It depends on the floor. Light brown suggests an orange hue, or a red hue but bone suggests a green hue. Identifying what colour the floor is may help.

Dark and bold colours are trending at the moment, with greens and blue playing a huge part. It all depends on if you're after a warm palette or a cool one. Warm colours such as burgandy or burnt orange would work well in contrast to the flooring.
If you're after something cooler the a deep blue, emerald green, and dark purple would work amazingly.
Just make sure you balance the bold colours with a complimentary neutral in order to keep some of the natural light and tie evrything in with the flooring.
