May I ask where this wardrobe is from?

Hi there,

I’ve just moved into a one bed ground floor flat and have been given permission to make a few changes. I’m looking to get a fitted wardrobe in my bedroom and really like this one. May I ask where this one is from?

Hello! We had the wardrobes made by a joiner. But if you need bespoke wardrobes I can recommend a few companies.

Have you tried space slide or Jali as they list prices but I wouldn't say particularly cheap. It may be cheaper to get the plasterer back and go freestanding? You could pick up say a french armoire from ebay for a great price and you know it's good quality. Do you just need doors or sides too? The other option, if doors, is maybe to buy some french louvre doors, shutters or a room divider from ebay and have the carpenter make something up. I want to do similar for window shutters. I like these from the french bedroom company for £362 (w180'h208) but they're not tall enough for my windows unfortunately

Sorry that it has taken a while for me to respond. I assumed that I would be notified if anyone was kind enough to comment on my post. Still learning how to use this app! Jonathan, thanks very much for your advice. I think you are right . The logical spot to place the wardrobe is on the long wall at the far end from the window which means that it will be opposite the door. I am not sure about having two wardrobes. My concern is that it may make the room too furniture heavy and a bit claustrophobic. My preference is for a spacious feel. Maybe it is not possible to accommodate all my clothes without the room being over stuffed with wardrobes. Ooof!

It looks like the space available is tight for that. If you can reduce the area of Bedroom 2 by making a recessed entrance area from the corridor to both Bedroom 1 and 2, (Bedroom 2 would become a bit more than 8 m2, which is ok for a small single bedroom. This allows you to move the door of Bedroom 1 to Bedroom 2 side wall.), then you have the current rectangular space in front of the bathroom for additional space to play with. The bath tub would be moved to the corner to airing cupboard to have a bathroom on the corridor side then the current WC and wash basin area would become an ensuite with a shower at the top-left corner? I can’t really tell without all dimensions. It might still be tight. A sink in there might have to be a small one depending on how much space you can squeeze from the new bathroom side. You also need to think about how pipes are to be connected to the existing stack, but the position is not shown. I also suspect the wall between Bedroom 1 and 2 might be structural holding wall/roof above...

If you keep it as a master bedroom I would definitely go for walk in wardrobe- we have a very similar situation in our room but even though we haven’t gained wardrobe space everyone that has a nosey thinks it’s amazing! We also didn’t put a door on the en-suite that leads off the walk in wardrobe so we could gain some natural light and it works really well keeps it all feeling more spacious than perhaps it actually is.
