Would windows with a black frame be bold?

We just bought this house and we are going to change all the windows and repaint the cladding back to his original colour. I think we could improve the look of the house by choosing a dark colour for the window frames but I was wondering if it would look too dark in black. Is there any app I could use to visualize it? We would keep the garage as is though.

The garage door can be painted black? I’m not sure about mixing window colours.

What is/was the original colour of the cladding?

Perhaps this is not part of your dilemma, but do you have plans for the front garden /drive area?

When I look at the colours together I definitely lean towards lichen. I do however personally like a lighter colour with stone though so think I'm erring towards french gray, which is a great colour. I'd get some testers, they'll both look great. What was your husbands verdict, he seems to have been outnumbered?! I assume you need permission anyway to paint so there will be a long wait for pics?!

@john clark I have just bought a walk in shower tray with fixed screen with black profile and support arm for £365 from showertraysuk if you are looking for that rather than over shower bath. Like Katie I got my shower (£160) and exposed trap (£45) for the basin from Victoria Plumb, pop up waste off soak.com (£12.99) taps very similar to Katie but with a rounded spout again off ebay (£65) I've not yet fitted my bathroom but I hope it looks as good as yours Katie!!

Yes, you could go for dual coloured ones. I think @Juliet Docherty once mentioned in a dilemma that they have dark coloured windows inside and they don't like how it dictates the colours in the room? Not sure if it was her who said that. So I think it depends on your style too. I quite like black/white/beige/grey interiors, and I quite like the idea of dark window frames on the inside :-) I don't think it looks odd if you have black bifolds and white windows on the inside. Just a personal choice

I presume you’re not UK based as this is a UK site? You might get more results on a country specific site? US? We definitely don’t have pools outside our kitchen windows, just soaking wet gardens 🤣

I like black windows, but it depends what you mean by original colour for the cladding - wood, black?

The cladding was originally black. Some house in the same estate have been better at maintaining it. We are going to repaint it with appropriate protective paint/oil. I want to paint the side gate in the same colour. I think we might go for upstairs black windows and downstairs white. We won't have any of the lead effect on the glass and I want slimmer frames, tilt and turn so no small panels. Does that make sense?

I worry that if we go all black it won't match the garage and also the conservatory at the back which we are not planning on changing.

Are you looking for a contemporary look if so Charcoal windows would be a great colour and the cladding in a lighter shade of grey would bring it up to date. Are you looking at also replacing the garage door and front door? these would need to coordinate with the new windows? Or if you wanted to go for a more traditional look black would be good for the windows and a wood stain in dark brown for the cladding. Also black garage and front door? Finally you could go with a new England look and introduce some colour blue?
