Help with 5 year olds room -paint, wallpaper, overall design and theme
Comments (26)Hi. I hope you don't mind me saying but the stage area may be outgrown quite quickly unless you put in a big stage but I'm not sure there's the room. If you do go for a stage, I'd put it in the top left corner as you come through the door with the bed in the right corner with the pink style canopy (which should just fit?). Personally I love the canopy pictured against the wall (you can also tuck drapes out of harms way) and it will grow with your daughter. Your daughter certainly knows her own mind btw! The striped wallpaper would be good on that back bed wall with a canopy. You could mix striped wallpaper with patterned on the other walls if she wants that ie the stars? I would probably try and keep it a little simple though with the feature wall and duck egg on others if you want the room to last. I love the pink and green lights in your pic, maybe someing similar with pink and duck egg? . Maybe try some decals in the dressing table area or go for the star wallpaper?...See Morewallpaper/paint advice please
Comments (11)Hi. Has the coving been purchased already? I would be tempted to leave it personally, it may fight with the stove. I agree with others an olive green or maybe a grey for the alcoves. Has the rest of the room been painted? I think you need to introduce colour, you've got the striking pink and olive in your blinds but there isn't colour in the rest of the room, and texture as there's a lot of wood. I'd look at kitchen accessories. Maybe look at painting dining table legs and chairs (if you want a country look!). If not maybe a table runner and cushions with a big vase of flowers. I'd put an occasional chair to the left of the stove. It will make the area cosy and hopefully cover the sockets. I'd add a basket for logs the other side ( although not convinced it's a wood burner?!). Maybe have a rug in front of the hearth or if you like them as some people don't, put one under the table. I'd also look at the furniture arrangement, there looks to be space to pull the dining table out from the wall? Maybe also pendant lights for over the breakfast bar and potentially one in the dining space? Do also look at plants and herbs, they'll pick up the green and look great in a kitchen. I think also a bigger piece of art over the radiator and maybe move the art either side of the clock elsewhere...See MoreTo paint or not to paint? Or wallpaper?
Comments (10)I agree they're great rooms. Part of me says continue with the peacock colour scheme and go really bold with a really deep teal/petrol or nearly emerald on the walls :) As you've mentioned grasscloth though I wonder what a gold one would look like and perhaps continue on the feature wall in the dining area? I really like the white cabinet in the dining room but wonder what that would look like in the emerald or deep teal? Can I also be cheeky and ask where you got the Thai wall carving please as I haven't my seen one that size:)...See MorePOLL: To wallpaper or not to wallpaper?
