Help with 5 year olds room -paint, wallpaper, overall design and theme
Comments (26)Hi. I hope you don't mind me saying but the stage area may be outgrown quite quickly unless you put in a big stage but I'm not sure there's the room. If you do go for a stage, I'd put it in the top left corner as you come through the door with the bed in the right corner with the pink style canopy (which should just fit?). Personally I love the canopy pictured against the wall (you can also tuck drapes out of harms way) and it will grow with your daughter. Your daughter certainly knows her own mind btw! The striped wallpaper would be good on that back bed wall with a canopy. You could mix striped wallpaper with patterned on the other walls if she wants that ie the stars? I would probably try and keep it a little simple though with the feature wall and duck egg on others if you want the room to last. I love the pink and green lights in your pic, maybe someing similar with pink and duck egg? . Maybe try some decals in the dressing table area or go for the star wallpaper?...See MoreLiving Room Wallpaper!? Plus Matt or Silk Dulux paint!?
Comments (22)Which period are you trying to emulate? The damask isn't to my personal taste although that's neither here nor there but I do think the scale may be a bit large and heavy for the room. Have you considered trellis/quatrefoil/geometric/chinoiserie etc style papers? They are period papers but popular Atm. Or just consider something with texture, mie grasscloth effect. You could keep the walls fairly light or neutral in colour and add colour for accessories, art etc. Or if you're going for a velvet Chesterfield consider teal, burnt orange, green, blue etc. You could also add more classical/period accessories ie urn or acorn style lamps, horses head etc (I have one I love from oka which was only £26!). I would choose the paint after the paper and the paper after the sofa!...See MoreTo Wallpaper or not to wallpaper
Comments (10)thank you so much for your advice! so the structure is pretty much unchanged so it's not a new wall that was erected in between rooms. Walls are original, solid but when a hole is drilled in them, they do have this crumbly stuff that comes out...am I making ANY sense?! 😂🙃 He's basing his opinion on the flats that he's renovated and that he also bought and renovated his own flat on the same road as mine. I don't know if he was putting me off extra work to help me save money OR he didn't want to take on more work. I've had a few carpenters flake on me so I'm not sure which of these two it is- will see if I do get a quote from him or not 🤷🏻♀️ yes for the bedroom, papering on top and painting below the beading. The wallpaper I want alone is likely to cost £1000 so I would die if I buy it and then can't use it...😬...See MoreOPINION POLL - DILEMMA - BLUE PAINT OR WALLPAPER IN LIVING ROOM, HELP
Comments (6)I see what you mean Minnie. The room looks narrower than it really is in real life as we know it now. I did try a sample board of dove grey which is approx 2 shades darker and the subtlety was not offensive. However, I was thinking that a dark shade of blue would make the room appear more closed in than it really is. Appreciate your knowledge and hope to hear any more. Thanks everyone. Stay safe and well....See MoreJoanna C
